People have turned their signature lines into spam. Do companies offer discount to sig line spammers? This trend is as annoying as people listing the guns they own in sig lines on the gun boards. I have always thought that tacky at best. But if someone was paying them for the spamming then I could understand it better.

Along those lines I am now accepting paid advertisements on my signature line. Please PM me with your offers.

I don't think it rises to the level of annoying spam or anything. I guess I should be included. I have two knives in pics in my sig line.

I support Busse, I guess I need to add that below them.

I like sig lines that have funny quotes from other members. I guess I need to get clever with mine.

It is not spam any more than it is spam for HOGS to put their Hog-name in their signature.

Read up on how it started: thread link

Post #65 of that thread is where it takes off.

Just to clarify for OP, the sig lines your mentioning are showing support for a small American company (run by a couple of good guys) which has been the victim of some shady business tactics by a very large and well-known manufacturer. I don't think it's intended as advertising as much as it's voicing support against the tyranny of large companies over the smaller guys who put all their heart and soul into products and customer service.

Just a little PSA. We now return to your regularly scheduled program.

Some people get passionate about a cause, a company, whatever, and they decide to make sure everyone everywhere can see it. I noticed a big surge in RAT Cutlery support when they had a battle with Ontario Knife Company, that seems to be a wound that won't heal. I was upset at that situation myself, I ground several newer Old Hickory kitchen knives in half and sent them to Ontario to say I won't be getting any more of their stuff for a while (and that the new line of Old Hickory knives would have to try hard to equal the quality of the cheapest, crappiest Pakistani stuff out there.)

I considered putting a sig line about how despicable Mick Strider is for lying about his military career to sell knives but I decided to just let it go for now. Maybe later. For now I'll leave it something simple and pleasant. It's a line from the movie Silverado in case you don't recognize it.

This does not belong in the Busse forum. I'm moving it to GBU as it doesn't fall into any other category (except maybe W&C)

If I ever saw a whine and cheese post, this would be it :thumbdn:

People pay to put a sig line here, just as you are a gold member, you have your rights to put stuff in your signature too. I pay good money to advertise here as a dealer. Some people have loyalties to certain companies and that's perfectly fine. I've always been a big CRK and Spyderco fan, I even used to have a "knife of the day" in my signature line that I would update as I went along.

I suppose having "Boy Scout Motto: Be Prepared" in my sig line is supporting the Boy Scouts of America

What's more annoying is when someone joins a forum that's been here for over 10 years and within weeks is telling us what we've been doing wrong.

Accusing RAT of paying members to spam is absurd. RAT Cutlery is one of the most honest and modest companies in the business.

I'll pass on PMing you suggestions, as you wouldn't like mine.
