I suppose it's time to ask

The only thing in the middle is a Satin Jack Tac, which I have found is almost impossible to find. Maybe other members can give you better information on how to find one. I haven't had any luck so far.

.

Ever check the exchange? there is at least one for sale right now. . . ;)

You say that you like the NO-e but want more blade length and then say you like the SJT. This has me confused, since the two are close to the same size, as can be seen in this photo of an EU17, HOGSJTLE, and ZTNO:

I think your best bet is a SH-e (someone else suggested this) or MoFo/MoJo. In the photo below, you can see these flanked by a regular Satin Jack variant and a pair of NICKs above and a CPABA below.

The NOE is the blank used to create the EU-17 and the STripper, he says he wants more blade.

To me, that leave the BIBB, 3/16" Mojo or ZTSH. The next step up is something like a FSH which is a much heavier knife.

That's a real hole in the Busse lineup, a large but lightweight chopper.

He also says a larger version of the Ratmandu would be perfect, so I'm left a bit confused and have to fall back to suggesting a Hell Razor or ASH-1.

Actually, the NO-e was used to make the Mini Eu-17, the Regular was made with the SH-e blank, and the Magnum was made with the BM-e blank.

GET THE ASH-1 WHEN IT COMES OUT!!! THIS KNIFE IS FRIGGIN AWESOME!

Sounds to me like you want a SH-E originals came with a canvas sheath with a kydex/plastic? liner. It is pretty much a NO-E with about 1.5 inches more. Should be able to get one around $400 - $500. Take a look at Busse collector.

All things are relative.:) After playing with the FFFBM all night I went and found my NO-E and BATAC. Compared to the FBM these now appeared skinny. So, I've changed my mind a little bit and those thicknesses are ok, just not as thick as the FBMs.:)

As for the confusion over the NO-E and the SJTAC, I really like the profile and grind of the SJTAC but would want it a little longer. I also like the NO-E but it's got too much handle and not enough blade for my personal tastes. The SH-E isn't looking like a bad choice now either. I like the look of the straight handled models but am now wondering if the E handles wouldn't be more comfy in the long run over prolonged use.

Thanks for all the help/replies guys, you're making it easier and harder at the same time.:):cool:

I'm not sure if I'm supposed to ask a question like this but would it be inconceivable for me to trade my FBM LE and Stripped BATAC w/sheath for a Mole/Satin Jack (The bottom one in the pic above.) and a BM-E? Again, I'm not familiar with the Busse aftermarket pricing so I'm not sure if it would be a fair trade and if not who would be getting the better/worse deal. Please advise.

thanks,

Greg

I don't think that would be a good trade for you.

The FBM LE should be able to fetch more than retail price (it's a lot of satin finish infi), the BATac with sheath should be a close to straight across trade for a user mole jack (no sheath). A BME user can be found for under $500.

If possible I'd like to start with mint/near mint knives with sheaths. How close would that even it up to in your estimate? In the end maybe I'll straight out sell the LE and BATAC and buy the other two but I didn't want to list them at crazy prices and look like a noob. Even though I am.:)

Doh. I just realized I put the wrong initials. I'd want to trade for the Mole/Satin Jack and a SH-E, not a BM-E. Sorry for the confusion. Where does that put me trade-wise?

i love the ergos

particularly when you change the asymetrical edge to a symetrical one --- it gives the blade a "longer" look, which it seems like you're wanting...

The BM-e on top has a symetrical edge, the NO and Badger do not.

I'd say your FBMLE is in the Ballpark of $775 and your BATAC with sheath is around $330= $1105

The SH-e should be around $450-75 ish and the Mole SJTAC should be around $330-50= $825ish or less.

$1105.......$825. I hate to throw salt on someone's deal, but that doesn't equate on your side. I'd suggest trading your FBMLE (which I assume would be the bread and butter of your deal on his end) and add the necessary cash to make the adjustment.

My figures might not reflect the current market prices as they're constantly changing....an AK-47 sold for $575 one day and $675 the next week on the sales forums....it's kinda funny like that :p

Very nice customs. Can you tell me a little more about the top two knives? Like when you can send them to me?

The top one is the Swayback Jack. It was a Ganza offering a couple of years ago. Amusingly enough, the one I received was duller than a spoon. Seems I got the one used in the photos. Jerry was most apologetic and returned it quite sharp.

As you can see, it is the same length as the regular SJ. It has a 0.25" blade that is full flat ground and the truncated straight/rope handle.

The other one is a one-off custom that I bought from Jay/Raden. It was offered at either Blade 2005 or 2006.

It is based on the NICK but obviously reformed into a fighter vice a kitchen knife with a slight recurve and heavily swedged clip point. It is the thinnest INFI stock knife I own at 0.125" (1/8") and quite the slicer. Same handle as the Swayback, but with very dark green linen vice black paper scales. I really should have Dwayne make me a sheath for it.
