Aldo/Mace, I got some of the 1084 and really like it (and still have 3 or 4 sticks left)--if its "something else" that you have--count me in please. azmike

In the middle of getting the 1084 order together we got a call from a friend of ours who thought we might be interested in the pile I'm sitting on. The company we're getting it from made laminated knives for the leather and paper industries. I'm sitting on a BIG batch of 3/8 x 1 5/8 1095. The steel behind me in the picture is 3 x 3/4 1006. Along with the 1095 we inherited 70,000# of this stuff. They basically laminated the 2 together much like forge welding it. They then custom machined the edge and mounting holes for the machine it went on.

Anyway, the 1095 was made special for this Knife Company and it had an FG designation with it. I was hoping that one of the resident Metallurgists could shed some light on. The certs for the batch call it 1095FG/1095 Fine Grain Practice.

The Chemical Analysis:
C - .97
Mn - .48
Si - .25
Cr - .12
V - .029

We will be shipping it to Jersey in the next few weeks and we're taking orders. The lengths will be 53 inches long. The cost will be $3.00 PER POUND DELIVERED ANYWHERE IN THE CONTINENTAL 48 STATES. There will be a 4 bar minimum on the free shipping thing. The total weight will be 32 pounds +/-

IF YOU ARE INTERESTED YOU MUST E-MAIL ME AT njsteelbaron@gmail.com WITH YOUR FULL NAME, ADDRESS WITH ZIP CODE, PHONE # AND THE AMOUNT YOU WANT.

Thank you,

Aldo Bruno

You are a very bad man, Aldo Bruno!!!! Are you sure this steel isn"t "falling off" of trucks of Japanese freighter at precisely the time when we have a little spare cash lying around?:D

Take a long hard look at the humble man in the picture above. Does that look like the face of a wise guy?

Well..... maybe if I wear a suit.

I am looking at that pile of steel and thinking man thats a lot of knives. So 4 bars of the stiff would be $89 delivered. Sweet. I am going to have to go for some of this. With the thickness and width a guy could forge about anything. Jim

Hey Aldo I emailed you privately for a 29 pound package of 1095, you gonna be selling the 1006 of adding that to the melt of the 1084?

Hey....just a little harmless, humorous stereotyping. But now that I think about it......Jersey......Italian name.........mysterious ability to find stuff that is, generally speaking unobtainable, through "friends".........it makes my little inbred, hillbilly brain work overtime:D That said, I will be sending you an order when I get bak to Tampa tonight:thumbup:
