I think I might finally pick up a knife purse.

Beautiful knife Christian! A great find however... No, no, no. No, no. No. The words 'knife' and 'purse' should never go together. ;)

This made it a no brainer.

Fantastic find, Christian. I, too, look forward to your impressions once you get it in hand.

Big and small clips, in pearl . . . "wild thing, you make my heart sing!" :D

Oooh, really? I miss(ed) that in the above image, but I do believe you are right. Better'n better!

... Sporran?

The sporran serves two main functions; to protect your misters from marauding knees and to stop unfortunate 'brain' displays when sitting. The fact that you can put stuff in it is a bonus. :)

And here I have it all in a nut(s) shell ! Always wondered about that sporran... Although Liam Neeson (in Rob Roy) humbling Tim Roth with a Sgian Dubh drawn in a flash from his sporran was quite enlightening about the added bonus. And that MOP knife belongs in the watch pocket of the waistcoat. There you go, gentleman. Congrats for a very nice knife !

Thanks all.

Not that I would ever condone a knife purse but my...uh...

I agree with you both by and large. I've never used one before as I have no problem with the scratches and occasional ding knives pick up from being in a pocket with keys. But my experience has been with bone, stag, and wood. I have none with pearl, and as the material seems quite susceptible to impacts, some extra precaution is in order as I seem to drop each and every one of my knives.

First impressions -

Some gent's knife, this thing is almost as long as a #73! Not much of a problem though, as it is lighter and thinner than a single blade Charlow. Should disappear in a pair of dress slacks.

Now the bad news. This knife wasn't as well made as I'd hoped. Fit is good enough, but the finish leaves something to be desired. The brass liners weren't completely polished, as there are some grind marks present. And the swedge on the big clip looks as if it was ground by someone unsure of his talents as it isn't as crisp as it should be. The nacre covers are also thinner than I'd prefer, but that's probably the nature of the material. Having no prior experience with the stuff I don't know.

No matter. I got this knife because of the stamp. It's not going anywhere.

Even with her flaws, she's undeniably pretty.

Sorry I missed this thread until now Christian, looks beautiful from here my friend

Didn't that come from his armpit (where I understand the Sgian Dubh was traditionally carried)? Hope I'm not opening a can of worms! :D

Thanks Jack. Unfortunately she's not too photogenic (probably the photographer's fault :D). I have no idea how to capture the iridescence of the covers in a pic. Much more alluring in hand.

She's a beauty Christian. I have a hard time photographing MOP too, recently I discovered that if you have some color in the foreground, the covers will really pick it up.

I'm not sure you can ever really capture it to its full beauty Christian, but your pics look pretty good :)

That's a relief! Sometimes I wonder if I've imagined these things! :D

Good tip Duane

Colors huh? Let me give it a try.

I don't know if that's much better. Definitely the photographer's fault...lol. :D

I think that looks very good Christian

Although I am an atheist I do like the idea of karma- it suggests to me that you must be doing something good to have found your grail knife.;).
It's a beauty.
I had the same feeling when I first saw the Mako-too bad they got the spelling wrong:D
Anyhow as Rob Roy would have said(to the blackguardly Archie Cunningham)"if the basket hilted two handed broadsword fits...wear it"

footnote: the Sgian Dubh was traditionally used to open cans of worms but my preferred method is to hack the can in half with a basket hilted two handed broadsword or similar .
