I think I've finally found the perfect Busse...

For some reason this one doesn't seem as thick as the descriptions make it out to be. Weren't the Public Defender and Euro 6 basically what you're describing? If those were made with no choil I'd be all over them.

I haven't handled the euro 6 but the pub defender was worse than the boss jack. it's not the thickness at the spine, it's the thickness of the metal behind the edge. The more you have with infi, the harder the impact it can take without the mash/dent/roll working it's way up into the grind. thats great, but the thicker it gets the worse it gets at slicing. I wouldn't call the boss jack a slicer, but it's like night and day after the sharpening I did on it. Jerry basically designed the public defender and the boss jack to be slammed on metal for hours on end, and it shows in their cutting performance.

I love the handle ergo's, the blade profile and the heigth of the boss jack, I just wish it was thinner at the edge from the factory. I'd also love to see a thinner version - BUT it would still have to have a not-overly-robust edge. I've handled puuko's that were TERRIBLE slicers, even though they were 1/8" thick and zero ground. Because the grind was so lo, 1/4" up from the edge you were at full thickness, you almost tearing the cutting media in half with your bare hands with a grind like that. I'm not partial to the edge profile on the pub defender (you have to jut your arm/wrist up to use the tip for slicing straight down) and I don't like how tall the euro 6 is.

I think I over state the thickness of the boss jack. It's not that bad from the factory, it's just thicker at the edge than I'd prefer for the kind of in-the-city edc cutting chores i use knives for.

I was jut talking handle ergos and blade length. I am sure an unconditional warranty plays a role in BC's edge profile. My BJ is 0.215 at the ricasso and immediately thinner over the course of the entire blade, which is full convex, zero grind. I can't fault that. :)
