I joined BF a while back to get some info on nice folders and wandered into this forum and liked the feel. I also opened up a newfound love for fixed blade knives that you folks have to take credit for.
I've always loved the outdoors from camping and fishing trips as a kid with my family, through a short stint in boy scouts, where I found a love for fires and goofing around
to tromping through the Adirondack mountains in all seasons. I've enjoyed my time road-tripping across the country a number of times and not spending a night in a motel and try to get a longer backpacking trip in as much as possible (which has been a bit tricky ever since my son was born two years ago).
I love the simple pleasures a night in the woods can bring and I've really enjoyed the photo threads some of you have posted. It gets me itching to hit the trail and share some of my own.
I like the free exchange of ideas here and the fact that people seem to appreciate many of the skills that most people have forgotten. I've practiced a bunch of those skills and hope to put some more tricks up my sleeve by watching you folks in the future. I also hope to purchase a few knives I've seen here and finally take the step toward grinding my own blades. My collection isn't fancy, a couple RAT-3 knives in D2, several Moras and a few other scandi blades that are getting some handles put on, as well as some Benchmades and various folders that are pretty much form follows function.
Anyway, I like it here and visit from time to time. Hopefully if I get a chance to take my Wenonah out for a cruise or hit the trails for a weekend, I'll try to post some pics. Until then, thanks for keeping this spot a nice place to hang out.
