I too have been ripped off by Britt Gudowski of Black Starr Knives.

I don't know how to do this and I don't know if this is the right place, but I've been ripped off by Britt Gudowski of Black Starr knives $780.00. No knife, and no refund! Same stories; ran out of bead for bead blaster; several additional weeks delayed! I've had Police investigate, he lies to police, going to try F.B.I. next, for internet fraud! this guy belongs in jail for what he is doing! He told me ," send him 100% payment up front and he'd have my First Blood knife done in 4 weeks or less. It's 10 weeks now! He doesn't want me to call him or email him or write letters to him any more! He is just ignoring me after I paid $780.00 ( including sheath and shipping Express mail. His normal wait time ,he said," is 8 weeks." That's come and gone! He tampered with one of my checks so it would have his girl friends name on it to avoid income tax. I don't know if I've got the right department on this forum, I just registered today in reply to GarthRambo . I won't bother any one anymore. I just thought people ought to be aware of so called CUSTOM knife makers who rip people off! My misfortune, I'm retired and $780.00 is a lot of money for me to be stolen! Softail

Welcome to bladeforums. That's a shame. Hopefully your post will keep others from getting taken, and good luck getting it resolved.

For what it's worth the makers here are good folk, and the fixed blade exchange section is top notch.
 
If the U.S. Postal Service was involved, try your nearest Postal Inspector. Emphasize the pattern of behavior by the criminal.
 
Wow for a knife assembler he is getting a lot of buiessness :thumbdn: let's all make sure we don't ever fall for this scumbag.
 
I just heard of guy loosing $800 with Brit, will see if ican find more info about that...

He tried to rip me off too. After many delays and excuses he finally sent me my knife but it was it was like pulling teeth. His knives aren't worth the money or the headache.
 
If I ended up having a bad experience from a knife maker, I would not want the knife that they made in the end.
 
:rolleyes: Well I finally got the knife from Black Starr Knives-Britt Gudowski after 11 weeks ( was suppose to be 4 weeks). Not what I expected but that's the internet. I don't know what caused him to send it finally, who knows? I wish to thank Blade Forums for listening to my truths and predicament. He thinks I was bad mouthing him when I only stated facts of what he did to me! He rectified the problem by eventually sending the knife. I've been out of town. I apologize if I offended anyone! My goal was to sympathize with "GarthRambo" who said he was ripped off by Black Starr Knives. I am now leaving Blade Forums, and I would like to say you guys seem to be wonderful fellows! Thank you. This is "softail" again, sorry to bother everyone, but as requested by Black Starr Knives and Britt Gudowski I am adding this statement to my previous thread: I was not ripped off by Black Starr Knives. They did not withhold all my money. They did send me my knife. Apparently, I was wrong and falsely accused them of ripping me off. Due to lack of communication, they were behind on orders and I did not know this! I had jumped to conclusions and thought I was being cheated. This, I apologize for here publicly and hope this has not tarnished his upstanding reputation. Thank you for your time and professional understanding.:thumbup:

the only reason britt finally sent my knife was cause I went public on here and also posted a knife on ebay of his and told the story in the description after he ignored my calls and texts but amazingly enough the day after I posted sent me a text " your knife will be done this week now take that shit down" which I explained to him the knife will remain up till he sent the knife because he is a liar and his word means nothing. And much like softtail after he made it seem like he did me a huge favor for sending me what I payed for 8 months ago asked me to do the same and tell everyone he didnt rip me off which I did tell everyone he sent the knife but when I received it in that horrible unprofessional condition I refused to not tell the knife community and try to prevent others from going through this
 
and softtail says "do to a lack of communication" I believe that since britt avoids calls and texts from people he OWES which I guess you can call that a lack of communication
 
Britt probably threatened softtail with taking legal action like he did to me which I explained there is nothing illegal about telling people what a business has done to me. I have not said one lie about britt or blackstarr knives and have evidence to back up everything I said so he will not scare me into being quiet so this can keep going on
 
its strange that when britt is "behind on orders" he continuous to sell knives on ebay with the same advertised wait time
