I took the plunge (first knife build)

Looks good so far, just remember the more you do now the less youll have to do later.Ive seen some really excellent sanding sticks do awsome work.

Yeah I plan on having it as perfect as I can get it before ht, that way less work on the blade when it comes back.

Well I tried to drill a couple weight reduction holes but I cannot get my drill to go strait, I need to find someone with a drill press then I can get that part done.

Ern, DO NOT SELL THAT KNIFE!!! It's your first and you need to keep it. If you need I'll dig around and get you some steel but please don't sell your first knife.

No, you are right. I have decided I cannot sell my first knife.

sorry guys no updates yet, I have not got a hold of a drill press yet but I got a different drill with a level on it. I am going to try to dril them by hand again.

Sorry for no pics before it left but i will get some as soon as I start putting the scales on!!

Great progress, let's hope they get it done as fast as possible.

Made any choices on handle material?

You certainly are doing great !!! I also recommend that you finish it downm to say 400 or 600 before sending it out to heat treat. Good stuff. Frank

Yeah I had it at 400 grit before it left!!

Thanks everyone for the praises, it sure helps boost my confidence hearing that other makers like my first knife as its being built!!!:D

I went and drilled the scales on a friends drill press, But....... I somehow screwed up and drilled them wrong, there was a hole off on one side.

I Have some bubinga scales that another member here gave me!!

I have the epoxy on and clamped, Now just to wait until it sets up!!!

Looking good, I just took the clamps off mine today. I noticed I have a slight gap between the bolster and the scale on one side, but I am going to try fill it in with sawdust and super glue. I am hoping to start shaping the handle tonight or Tuesday.

Looks like we will be done right around the same time, now where did Fletch take off too:p the thtree of us started right around the same time.
