Does the i trader function replace this GB&U forum? I have used both over the last six months and wondered what anyone else is doing. I would like to hear from you guys.

Mods - feel free to move this thread if it is in the wrong place.

I haven't done any transactions since i-trader, but I'd probably check both.

I didn't notice the sticky about i-trader being back up until today- I haven't sorted out all the new CP options since the forum update.

I've always found TGB&U more useful, but it requires more effort from both parties to leave feedback, and more effort when doing research. It's time well spent, in my opinion, but I can see the appeal of i-trader. It seems to have the advantages of ebay's feedback system- a brief informative statement with a simple good/bad rating- without the codified drawbacks (the "I'll leave you positive feedback only after you leave me positive feedback" crap).

I started leaving iTrader feedback as well as continuing GBU. Then I did a few using my iTrader wording in GBU. Now I'm just using iTrader, except where it isn't available, then I'll use GBU.

I really like the idea of leaving feedback, but I think GBU gets lost in the flood of entries. At least with iTrader, we can go directly to the person and see his history.

This is a good topic in the right forum, because the more interest, the more feedback, the better.

I like I-Trader, just much quicker to check out one ID at a time and to leave feedback. However, I posted in Service and Support the question, when will the I-trader system allow us to post feedback for sales for multiple sales in one thread. I have had over 50 sales in one thread alone, but am prevented from leaving any feedback except for the very first buyer, after that it gives me and those trying to give me feedback invalid URL deal thread. That is why they suspended mandatory multiple sales in one thread. But this thread was started before the upgrade. Hope I get an answer soon. I am sure all the buyers would like to have feedback.

I check both when considering entering into any transaction, especially GB&U because there's a lot more history there. Any extra time it may take to do the homework is well worth it, IMO. GB&U allows for more details to be given and viewed about a transaction if people choose to share them, though in the case of bad deals those who feel wronged will likely put up a dedicated thread anyway.

I leave feedback in both as well because I figure it should be available in any place where someone may search for it. If I gave John Doe a good rating only in GB&U but the next person John Doe deals with after me only reads iTrader then my feedback won't serve it's purpose, for no other reason than I didn't make the simple effort to put it in both places. The fact that a GB&U thread may get pushed off the first page in a day doesn't make it any less worthwhile to me. The information is still valuable.

just a couple of the reasons why it's good to post in both.... there are people that only use one or the other, and most judicious buyers or sellers really shoud check all available feedback. IMHO, GBU leave people the opportunity to leave more in depth information on a buyer or seller. "AA+++" doesn't tell me squat, but "he was a good guy, but could have communicated better and was slow with the money order" tells me more, and the latter is more likely what i will find on GBU. just my .02.

Have tried on two occasions to leave feedback in i-trader and it was no go - don't know why. Will continue to use GB&U as it's the only thing that works for me.

I've had buyers/traders say they couldn't get itrader to accept the thread URL on the for sale/trade post. I know they just didn't know to go to the post and copy and paste the URL for the itrader. So I would wind up leaving them positive feedback and they'd never leave me anything. (sure I tried to explain it to them but they never seem to get it)
None of the people I've dealt with have bothered to post here. (maybe one or two) Most seem to use the itrader or nothing.

ITrader is vastly better than GBU but this is the problem... It is a bit to dfficult for folks to use. I have sold perhaps 35 knives with out any feed back from the buyers. In fact after the first flurry of ITrader feed back when it was new its seems folks have stopped using it.

I also really Liked it when ITrader showed up under the users name. It helped people to remember to use it.

I think having two systems weakings both. Should be one or the other.

My 2 cents

Great responses which seem to indicate that both places are good to post to. I have done so many deals that making a list of good guys to do business with and posting them to this forum is probably the way for me to go.

Thanks all.

Why is it vastly better? There's nothing that iTrader does any better than GBU! It also reeks of fleabay and I'm sorry but I personally don't like anything associated with their system. I've also noticed that people who only use iTrader expect feedback regardless of their actions in the dealing just like on fleabay.

IMO iTrader is faster - you do not need to search for username... but then you can get more info searching GBU ... I use both.

How do you do iTrader? I figured it out once when there was the number next to the member, but now I can't figure out how to do it. I have 2 positive trades that I need to give to people.

Easy, copy sell or buy thread, then click on members name, view feedback, then click leave feedback, answer questions, post the copied thread url, then leave comments. You is done.

Thanks for instruction James.

Hmmm....I keep getting a message that there's an error in my deal details, but I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. Tried leaving blank, tried writing in it, same error message. Maybe it's not liking my Mac configuration. Will have to try leaving feedback at work.

You can only use I-Trader for deals done through the exchange threads (sales or trades). Again, I think, it is for sale by maker or by individuals. Any other urls do not post. Spark may correct me on this, but I believe it to be true. Also, if that url thread has been used before for I-trader feedback, it can only be used again by the recipient. Multiple sale threads will not work except for the first buyer and then only he can return the feedback, do not know if this is your problem, but I-trader could get out of hand if it allowed more than one feedback per thread. That is the reason Spark and Mike G suspended the multiple sale requirements in one thread, because of the I-Trader feedback problem.
