I used my EDC for more than opening chip bags and boxes today.

I used it to remove a 1/2 inch by 1/2 inch square of skin off my right temple. For the past few years I've had a lump under the skin there... I think it's called a cist. I could pinch my temple and feel it under the skin, hard and round, and slightly painful to squeeze. When I was finished, which was about 20 minutes after I began, I reflected that most people don't get the sudden urge to cut their head open and see what's inside. Phrased that way, my operation seemed more foolish than it did at first.

Oh, and by the way, it looked white and lumpy. No big suprise I guess.

LOL, what was the knife?

Dalton Companion. I started out with the scissors on my mini Letherman, but they weren't sharp enough.

So, at some point it did not seem that foolish?

I hope you used whatever paint thinner or grain alocohol you were drinking to sterilize the blade, at least.

Lol. Yeah, after the first few cuts I started thinking "Wow... this wound is gonna be there a while. My dad will want an explanation when he sees it, and I don't want to lie. Hmm... He'll probably ask if I at least sterilized the tools." So then I wiped everything in rubbing alcohol and continued working. When I tell him that yes, I sterilized my instruments with alcohol, I won't be lying... he'll just make the incorrect assumption that I did that first. :D

As for the foolish thing... I knew I had no practical reason to do this, it would leave a wound, it would cause pain, may get me in trouble, may even get infected, blah blah... but I was really bored. At the time, my ISP connection was down, so I was just sitting around waiting for it to return when inspiration struck me. So I cut stuff outa my own head!

Hey can you post a picture of the 1/2 by 1/2 ? Be kewl to see your skills .

I was trying to get one before I posted this, but my digital camera is old and takes crappy pictures, especially close-up. It also has a habit of crashing when I try to upload the pictures... I don't think that's completely the camera's fault but I can't figure out what else is doing it because I've used several different programs and replaced almost all of my computer (the motherboard being really the only piece of hardware that matters for a USB connection crashing, and I did replace that), but I get the same stuff. If I can manage to get one loaded I'll post it.

Hey atleast you saved a few bucks :) How long did this take ? Also when did you do it ?

Took about 20 minutes. I finished at 6:43 PM (I didn't try to remember that... I just happen to rememebr looking at my watch when I finished), and it's 9:46 PM now.

Hmm, that's pretty fooking gross. :barf:

I had a blood-swollen hair gland cyst in my leg once. Sounds pretty much like your cyst. I popped it a few times (by hand) but it still wouldn't go away, so I had it excised by the doctor. The white mass got sent off to pathology to check if it was cancerous.

Perhaps it would be prudent to have a medical professional check out any hard lumpy masses under the skin?

I won't believe it till I see pictures.

Well I took the pictures but my camera still isn't cooperating. I'll post some pictures tomorrow - either my brother will do it on his computer or I'll use my dad's camera (which is of considerably higher quality).
