We tried to work up a deal. I had posted that I was looking for a particular knife. TC123 contacted me and said that he had found one, many miles away, and the place was a gunshop and did not ship. He offered to make the run for me, if I sent him the knife payment and a "few bucks for gas". I did that. I also sent him a custom knife I made, just as a thank you.

We chatted on the phone a couple of times. He made the trip and found out the shop had sold it. He ordered another and notified me of that. I was cool with it.

A few weeks went by and I pm'd him. The knife had gotted in and he had been working out of state and not had a chance to get it, and he did not know when he would be able to get it. I asked him to send me a MO to cover the knife cost. He had already made one trip, so the gas money was gone. He sent it. he was very concerned about his "rep". I told him to keep the custom knife I made.

I felt his actions were above and beyond anything anyone has ever offered me. He did not know me from anyone, but still OFFERED to take time and gas out of his life to help a stranger. He didn't ask for the custom knife, I sent it without his knowledge.

While our deal did not go through, trimcut123 is a stand up guy, willing to go out of his way to help a forum member. I will not hesitate to work a deal with him. He does some awesone tricking of Bradley Alias knives, and I am working to send mine to him for work.

Thanks trimcut123. Your "rep" is solid with me. I really appreciate the effort you put out. For all others, a failed deal does not an enemy make....

Yup, he's a good guy; gave me a good deal on an Emerson. For a busy guy, he goes out of his way to help. big  in my book.

thx - cpr

Hey Matt,

I'm one of those messes you have yet to clean up...You recieved my small Sebe and payment the second week of May for a ranger green scale. You told me the knife was done 6/10/09, You emailed me 6/23/09 saying the knife would be shipping and be here by the holiday weekend of 7/4/09. Here it is 7/25/09 and I've yet to recieve my Sebenza, and to make matters worse you have not responded to any of my emails, nor another forumites phone calls, who's in the same situation as I. I would think if your really worried about your reputation, you would take care of the customers that already paid you, and still have their knives in your possesion, before volunteering to take on more work. At this point I don't care if the work is done or not, I just want my knife back.

Dave, his rep on here is flawless, I'm sure there is a perfectly good reason for what has happened, I wouldn't worry to much though I do understand what its like being in the dark about stuff like this, it sucks.. But I'm sure he will make it right...

Matt's rep on here "has" been flawless, but there's truth to what "DaveReb" is saying.

I've known Matt for over 2 yrs now. Not in person, but on the internet & on the phone. I used to talk to him several times a week & probably email/PM him several times a day. However, that has changed.

Matt started modding knives & does do a great job. No doubt about that. Based on my opinion, several members sent knives to him. All of this was well over 2 months ago.

2 of the members got fed up with how long it was taking AND no communication. Matt would contact them back, tell them why something wasn't done or whatever, then a week or 2 would go by & they wouldn't hear anything. I had back surgery at the end of May & it started getting harder to get ahold of Matt at that time. Apparently, he's fallen on hard times, his home phone broke along with his cell phone. I was only able to contact him through his girlfriend. Fine, I can understand that.

However, at the end of June, it seemed that the other members & myself couldn't contact him anymore. He wasn't going onto the Forum, his PM bank was full, & he wasn't answering his emails or phone calls. A couple weeks ago, Matt got a new cell phone through a friend of his & I thought all was well.

However, the last phone conversation I had with him was a little bothersome. He did not do one of the members stuff, but said he'll send his knife to him (This was spiralarchitect, BTW). A 2nd member, who says Matt has had his knives for over 3 months has been told that his stuff's been done for well over a month (natpro7420), but hadn't received anything. This conversation was on the July 4th weekend. I believe my last phone conversation with Matt was on Sunday, July 5.

Well, the following Monday or Tuesday, spiral & natpro got their knives back & some G-10 material that they sent to Matt. Spiral got his knife back & no work done. I believe he hadn't paid Matt yet, so he wasn't out $, but quite a bit of time went by & it messed up a trade between spiral & I. Fortunately, spiral was VERY nice about it. Natpro was understandably bothered by what happened. He had paid Matt & waited over 3 months & was told that everything was done. However, there were no G-10 scales sent with his knives. Unfortunately, this was AFTER Matt told him that everything was done.

Now, a couple weeks after that phone conversation, I have not been able to contact Matt & have not received ANY calls, messages, PMs, or emails. Matt has all of my contact info.

Up until now, I've refrained from saying anything, but here's my problem with all this. While I have paid Matt for work to be done (I gave him 2 knives), I can wait. I've always asked Matt to just finish everyone elses 1st. Afterall, I was the one who referred Matt to them. I honestly think that had I not done so, they would not have sent Matt their knives.

As has been posted, DaveReb sent Matt his small Seb for a G-10 scale & paid him upfront with a Postal MO, I believe. I sent Matt a Lg. CGG scale for my Seb for Matt to do a G-10 scale for it. I also sent him my waved Yojimbo (For him to rebead-blast the clip & blade, which I THINK he has done), & a BM 760 M4 to do a G-10 scale for it & possibly to flip the clip. To my knowledge (Based on my last phone conversation with Matt), it's not done & hasn't even been started yet. I do not know if he's done any work on them since 2 weeks ago.

Now, in addition to all this, during our last phone conversation, Matt told me that he's done 1 or 2 G-10 scales for his step-brother (The son of Matt's step-Dad who has the machine shop that Matt does the knife work at). I asked Matt if his step-brother had ordered them a while back & he said no. I'm pretty certain the step-brother's not paying Matt, but that's not really an issue. What's an issue is that Matt apparently didn't have the time to do knife work for paying members, but could do so for his step-brother. If he did the scales along with ours, I think everyone would be fine with that, but to do them W/O doing any of ours is kind of like a slap in our faces, I think.

So, Matt's been able to use material & make scales for his step-brother, but can't seem to do ours, who have paid him in full for it. Also, please keep in mind, that Matt's never told me that my knives were finished, he's told others that theirs was when in fact it wasn't. So, he's lied to them.

This post is as much of a "I screwed up" as it is that Matt has. Others trusted my opinion & I steered them wrong. For that, I am sorry.

Now, I would like to say that Matt HAS been VERY upfront with me & has been a good friend. He told me about what Mr. Farmer did (Sending him one of his custom knives), etc. He's given me what I consider great deals on knife work. We've traded many times successfully & I know he's fallen on hard times financially. When I can, I've bought knives from him & tried to help out however I could & he's done the same for me. Matt has certainly gone beyond expectations, IMHO. Unfortunately, he seems to have stopped doing so.

I know that the others have said they fully understand if Matt would ONLY contact them within a reasonable amount of time & not seem to "ignore" their calls, PMs, &/or emails.

I sincerely hope that Matt (Trimcut123) will clear this up. I'm purposely NOT starting a separate thread so as not to hit Matt as hard as it could be. I also believe that's why DaveReb did this, too.

FWIW...Matt did finally contact me via email last yesterday. I was out until late last night and wasn't able to respond until this morning. Hopefully he will make the attempt to call me this evening, and we can get this all straightened out.

Thank you All
Matt

Update: Matt came thru, and my Sebe returned home today, with the G10 scale to boot. Once communication was restored, Matt handled everything quick and professional. As far as I'm concerned we're square, although Matt probably thinks I'm a PIA:D Thanks again Matt:thumbup:
