i want a big folder :)

If you want to compare models, this awesome website has a "compare sizes" section that lets you look at most models side by side:

(I love that site. Many thanks to the gentleman who came up with it!)

The blade my not be as long as you want but the Lil'Temperance has the beefiest and most ergonomic handle of any folder I've encountered. Heck for stout and still easy to carry. Here is a lineup with various Lil'Ts (in green) next to Chinook, Manix 80mm, military, and paramilitary.

Wow, this really does have to come down to personal preference. However, since you asked for opinions, I'll give mine. I was hesitant to go with the Manix, but ultimately did. I have to say it looks much better in person than in the pictures I've seen. It's a very sexy, but built like a tank, kinda knife. My vote definately goes to the Manix. I own all the others recommeded by others.

So, MANIX.

Now, onto edge. I got the combo edge and love it. There's plenty of plain edge blade for plain egde chores, and the serr edge is there when u need it. Absolutely perfect!

Let us know what you decide.

i'm gonna suggest a combination

the miliatry, in my eyes the corvette of folders, and the buck 12pt omni hunter, which is huge and only $30. if you have cash leftover, everyone should have a 110.

however, if only one, i'd go with the mili.

not to diss the Manix, but i'd say the military is the better choice.

most people planning to buy the Manix come up with the overbuilt-like-a-tank lock and its overall built and heft, but in my opinion the Mili has as strong as a lock and construction you'd ever need in a folder, plus it's a real featherweight. some people would also argue that the Manix might chop or pry better, because it seems stronger. suffice it to say that those are things you shouldn't do with any folder whatsoever, because all will fail at the pivoting-area and lock, even the Manix.

now you may think "but the military doesn't feel heavy-duty at all"; well, let me explain, the first time i handled a Mili, i thought the same thing of it: the thing looked and felt fragile, and "that tiny liner-lock" could never be strong enough......; but, boy how wrong i was! at first the knife may seem fragile, but once you start using one you find out that it is indeed very, very strong, both the lock and the built in general. i was and still am very impressed with the military.

also very important is the weight issue. with the Mili you won't even notice you're carrying it, it's that light, but the Manix is a total different story, realize that. it weighs something in between the weight of an AMK S2K and a Buck-Strider, and you definitely will feel it dragging your pants down.

so, think twice before you buy one, no matter how cool it looks, unless you don't mind walking around all day with over 6 oz. in your pocket

JMHO

I agree about the Manix-choice. I just bought one and its great! I was choosing between a Military, a Chinook and the Manix.
I picked the Manix because its heavier then the military and I think its much more of a EDC-knife then the Chinook.
When I have the money I'll buy a Strider SnG.....NOT because it would be better then the Manix, but I always wanted to have It because its build like a tank andddddddd.....It will keep its value when I would want to sell it. But the Manix is the one I will keep. Its surely is a great knife for its price. So take the Manix!

I like the Military, Manix, and Endura. My next Spydie might be the CHINOOK! It is the knife the Manix is based off of. Bowie blade and finger guards. The Pacific Salt too! Based on the Endura 3s.
