I want a tanto

Usually a couple makers on the exchange offering a tanto for a decent price if you're patient, or ask...

I decided to go with Recon Tanto. For 64€ is the best choice... and eventually 50€ (with shipping and taxes) for kydex sheath online or 20-40€ from local custom maker, just with me being without the knife for a while...
I would at least try the supplied sheath first .

I don't have any problems with them .

Just be careful to use the spine only to contact the sheath when drawing and sheathing the blade .

Just some ideas without thinking about price…

Hogue - EX F01 or their HK series Tanto

Bastinelli - PY Tanto or RED

Kabar - Short Tanto

Nevermind, I see you already decided. Congrats!

Forgot about the recon tanto (I also have one), you'll be happy with it I'm sure, for the price it's a great blade. Quite agile and more than capable of light chopping and camp type duties!

You will like the knife ! Have fun !
Thanks. I have good feeling about it :)

I just know I'll order the kydex one sooner or later, not to have that worry over my head all the time...

If I regularly use my knife, I will re-touch it up every other time, at least. So that it is primed for the next use. I can't be the only one here.
Heck, be like the barber or butcher, sharpen the knife before using.
In this case, why does the "sheath issue" matter?

It kinda sucks to have to sharpen it every time you pull it out from sheath IMO...

all this business with a sheath - just skip it - get a folding tanto like kabar space force which is aus8a - great overall for $35

To be clear about the Secure-Ex sheaths, hypothetically one could withdraw the knife along the spine for an infinite number of times and it will never dull the blade at all. The problem is in real world use, it's very difficult to do this, and all it takes is a few little bumps to knock that hair popping edge off, a few more here and there, and then you start seeing problems. Try withdrawing a double edge blade from these sheaths and not hitting the edge is damn near impossible. Add the fact that many models do not have a very wide opening in the sheath. The Recon Tanto is a bad offender at this, the SRK even worse.

Just gotta be careful as you can withdrawing to try and keep that edge on there.

I don't have a problem with the CS secure ex sheaths. Whenever I take my knives out I ensure the spine is slightly pushed against the sheath, second nature now. For the price they are decent enough sheaths. Although making your own leather sheath isn't very difficult and quite inexpensive even for some decent leather (lots of videos online).

So I just pulled the trigger and ordered Recon Tanto. It also cheereed me up to get "Shipped" email just around 40minutes after payment and "Package in transit" with tracking code after!

I've ordered from that site once before and experience was the same, if you order in the morning - it gets shipped same day.

Anyways, it should be here within 2 weeks, in meanwhile I'll either order that kydex sheath online or make deal with local maker to send him the knife once it's here.

Update... my Recon Tanto should arrive this week. Gonna post impressions once it arrives.

Also ordered custom kydex sheath from RK Custom about the day after I ordered the knife.

Why?
1. So I can carry and use the knife without constant dulling.
2. Local custom maker was slow on responses and I got no real price info either so it felt kinda odd to spam and double text the guy in order to buy from him.
3. Considering the time it'd be needed for the knife to arrive and then for me to send it to him, and then for him to make the sheath and ship it to him - it takes less time for my sheath to be made in the US and gets shipped to EU.
4. Even with shipping cost and import tax - it's not that expensive (around the same price as custom sheath here)
