I have some very nice expensive knives and while they are a joy to carry and even (The Horror) use on occasion, I want something to abuse on a regular basis. I want to scrape stuff and pry stuff and stick the tip into stuff that it shouldn't be stuck into. Of course it has to look good doing it all and make folks envious when they see the clip on my pocket. While I'm not a rich guy, I can afford any knife on the planet under $500.00. Let the knowledge and stories flow!!

You've been a member of this site for going on 12 years. Surely in that time you've come across many of the hundreds of possible candidates that meet those requirements.

There are so many to choose from that I won't even begin enumerating them. One that comes immediately to mind would be the AD-20 from Demko...in 3V or CPM Cru-Wear.

Our members will fill you in with a dizzying array shortly.

What size range are you looking for?
ESEE and Bradford have some offerings you'll find capable of that honey badger approach (honey badgers don't give a s#!+). If you are patient, Carothers is the pinnacle of take anything and laugh it off cutlery.

EDIT... Missed that you are looking for a pocket knife.

Disclaimer: a knife is a tool. Use it for cutting, slicing, etc. It can turn dangerous any other way.

Having said that, I've went with Busse Combat Company. Swamp Rat and Scrap Yard < the "Busse-kin" brands > have the same 100% Lifetime guarantee as you get with Busse Combat Co.

No one -- NO ONE-- in the business has the guarantee you get when you buy one of Jerry's blades.

You can get a Busse under $500 here on the Exchange nearly every single day.

Swamp Rat and Scrap Yard can be had for even less. Plus, in many ways, their proprietary steel, sr101 can surpass INFI in some usages.

I subscribe to the thought process of I am going to carry and use my nice knives for everything. I suggest doing all you debscribed to your favorite knives and enjoy using them.

Ive been using my best knive, a non replaceable sprint run, for everything up to cutting out carpet, cutting drywall, opened a box of lava rocks and dulled it up yesterday. I also throw tools and hunting gear on my leather seats in my truck. I enjoy finer things, but use them.

It reminds me of my grandmother who kept a clear plastic cover on her nice couch, no one ever sat on it. Why have it?

He mentioned a "clip" on his pocket, so I changed my first post's initial recommendation of CPK to Demko. CPK remains my choice if a fixed blade was desired, however.

Actually Blues I've been a member a lot longer than going on 12 years with a previous account I lost track of. Just thinking of a new knife purchase and wanted the most up to date choices. I actually needed a "sharpened prybar" the other week and just knew the knife I was carrying wasn't up to the task which begged the question of why am I carrying it.

Emersons might fit the bill. Lots of choices. If they can stand up to the Navy SEALs they should be able to take whatever you hand out.

For folders I would say Demko or Cold Steel.

Fixed blades that meet this description are plentiful and it totally depends on what size, what price range, stainless or not, country of origin, custom, semi custom, small production, etc.

There are Medfords that come up for sale frequently. Circa $500. You can go with the large, medium, or micro version. Do a "Want to Buy" post.
