I'm still in the honeymoon phase with my XM-18 with the working finish skinner blade and lock side titanium. But, it just screams to be used. Lot's of them around right now.

CRKT Folding Razel. The original #4030 model with the greenish/grayish/blackish handle slabs. For that price, get two, and pick up something else that you can respect some more.

If a fixed blade is really what you want, then I will suggest something by a company that doesn't get much love: TOPS knives.

They make what they call the "Pry Knife", which is a big, dumb, piece of sharpened 5160. The "Mini Pry" version is even thicker, but the handle design isn't good.

If you come around to the idea of a little more cutting utility, look up something called a "hacking knife". Used by glaziers to chip away window putty, it's capable of taking a surprising whupping, and still sharpen back up to acceptable.

I want to make one more, even more off the rails, suggestion.

1) Carry a knife of your choosing.

2) Look up "breacher bar" and get one you like. Mine is one of the old steel ones from EOD Robotics.

3) Spend your coins on a really premium sheath for said breacher bar, with a really good pocket clip.

4) Carry with confidence, knowing you have the right tool for the job, without compromising on the performance of either one.

I've spent a lot of time today looking at knives and overthinking the whole thing. I decided to grab a decent knife from the drawer and just go with it. I enjoy Spyderco knives so I grabbed my blurple Para2 (CPM S110V) and it will be a test case. I'll force myself to treat it like a $20 knife and hopefully break myself of worrying about it. Wonderful suggestions from all of you. Thank you!

Another vote for a Cold Steel AD10 or Ultimate Hunter. $100-120ish.

I'd spend the remaining $ on a smaller edc fixed blade. Maybe a Bradford Guardian 4.5 in 3V. I'd look for 3V or Cruwear probably.

Don't think knives are really designed for prying to much ~ it will damage at some point ~ I suggest a screwdriver and that points towards a multi ~ tool

I use to baby my knives. You'll feel liberated from the lack of worrying about it

I think applying any lateral force to a blade made out of a S110V, which is not tough at all, with a big hole in it, which is an obvious weak spot, is asking for trouble.
That knife is the very opposite of a knife suitable for abuse.
