When I talked to Buck's warranty department about wobbly Bucklites, they advised to me that the traditional metal bolstered Bucks hold up better. This is consistent with my experience with Bucks. My aluminum framed 110 is a real favorite of mine. I wish aluminum frames, full flat grinds and drop points were all options in the custom shop.
There are traditional folding knives that are lighter than the LT and tougher than any traditional lock back (including the 110) and that make great outdoor knives, but they aren't in the Buck line up. Basic designs create certain constraints, pros and cons.
The lock back as we know it is a hunting knife at heart and if we keep that in mind, knives like the LT make more sense. Ease of carry, blade shape and ease of clean up are all top priorities. Pushing a hunting knife into shop use might not be the best idea.
