I was looking into making some custom wood scales for my BK 2

Looks good man, definately take that up to 1000 or 1500 grit, rub with polyurethane, or tung, or both

Yeah, it can be tricky finding slabs or blocks that fit full size beckers, certain Busse handles are even harder to find stuff that is wide enough and long enough

No BK2 yet, but here's a 10

Dang ...Those came out sweet  Wish I had better woodworking skills ( bit of a hack ) , but found some nice Cocobolo ones on Ebay for my BK9 :D Now contemplating the "strip" thing ...

Damn Al those are really really nice.....
First time making scales and that's what you made?
Damn Man I cant wait to see what your 10th and 20th set looks like.

Very very Nicely done!

Thank you all Very Much :) My BK 2 is lovin life :).

Here are some update pics with stainless steel hardware and sanded to 400 grit. Now I need to think about the patina on the BK 2.

Thanks again for all the kind words,
Al

Those are looking really good. In the pics after you put the oil on them the grain just pops out.
If this is your first time to make a set you've got good instincts, those came out great.

love it, and love ironwood !!!! were there sparks coming off it from sanding?? :)

now all you have to do is find someone to make a nice kydex sheath for it....;)

That came out extremely nice for your first set! I am finding it harder an harder to refrain from modding my new BK2 with threads like yours!

Jeez Al, you must be one of those guys who is good at everything he does!
Nice work!

Thanks guys :)

Oregon, Thanks for your earlier advice. I couldn't find your thread in time, but I remembered you saying to cut the hexes inside the drawn lines or they would be loose. It worked, Thank You :)

azwelke, does this mean that you're going to start making grips now, too!?

*sigh*

I might as well just start auto payment to your paypal.... lol

Dang, those turned out really nice! I love the ironwood, but have been hesitant to try that out. Of course, it sounds like we run about the same tools, so what's there to lose? :)

UM, Got it Thanks :) lol J/K

Thank You.
Try it !! It is really nice to work with. It's hard to explain untill you experience working with ironwood. All I can say is use brand new, super sharp tools.

I use Norton 3x sand paper and I swear I used double the amount of paper on Ironwood.
