i was thinking of selling these-train tracks

I am with Bldsmth. I have never seen this stuff sell for more than a few dollars. The only way he will sell this scrap for alot of money is if he has several thousand pounds of it. Scrap iron is scrap and not worth much regardless of what it was in its former life.

Matt

Bladsmth-this guy has a large pile of stuff from the RR. those tracks, a few long wrenches, a bunch of flat steel plates with holes in them, a bunch of curvy steel latchy looking things, spikes and other strange shaped steel. i wonder whats useful. he said he can scrap metal them for alot of money. thankls-marekz

Marek, those little squiggly clips that look like a moustache are GREAT steel for blademaking.

Thanks Sam do you have any idea what knida steel it is--thanks marekz--Matt some people can use these for anvils. i know when i was looking for a anvil- i would haed loved to have a track as a temp anvil to work on. But your right this guys a shyster hed probably throw it away if i didnt want any of it but i bet when i ask him for the mustache looking things -hell charge me. oh well some folks are just like that--buttheds

I don't like to make too many definates, but most everyone I have talked to who has had them analyzed have come up with 1075-1080. I know of a couple full time sword maker dudes who use it pretty often with great results. You will have a hard time breaking them down by hand.

Don't worry about getting them from this shady character, you can find LOADS on the tracks.

well i just got 11 mustaches!! now i will put them in the forge and whack em into something that may pass as a blade. --marekz
