I think this was done in partnership with Banter 24/7 who used to hang around BF. Nice, simplistic knife.

Not a fan of the blue, but I love the clean clutter free design.

Looks like a shorter skyline. I like it!
Not true. The steel in my Synergy knife is “Hakkapella Damasteel”, not made by WE.WE doesn't use Damasteel, it has its own damascus steel based on 9Cr18MoV (popularly known as "WEmascus"). Damasteel a Swedish steel manufacturer with its own recipes primarily based on RWL34, which is similar to 154CM, and PMC-27, which is similar to 12C27, which account for a lot of the cost increase.

Yeah the price is substantial, so I guess that accounts for this particular damasteel. They use another damasteel pattern on the tanto version.Yep, you're correct. The Synergy is specifically sold as using various patterns of Damasteel. Which would definitely explain at least some of the price difference. Thanks for the info.

I think the lower end stuff, particularly the civivi line, uses Damascus pattern, not damasteel. The stuff around $500+ looks to all use damasteel.I don’t know......
“Synergy2 model sports an integral titanium frame with carbon fiber inlays and a Hakkapella Damasteel blade”
Their standard Damascus is a special blend based on 9cr
Have yet to purchase a WE for reasons expressed in this thread already. Am sure that fit and finish is excellent from feedback of members I trust and handling a few, but, the designs do not speak to me. What I see is a lot of well made parts, put together well, with no soul. See a CRK, you know it’s a CRK, same as Emerson, Strider, Onion, Demko, the list is endless of makers/designers who’s knives are instantly identifiable. Taking parts, pieces from proven designs, assembling them randomly in a flavor of the month, rarely keeping a design long enough to stand the “test of time” does not constitute a knife design I really want. There are no facts presented here, just a 1 guy’s opinion.
So what gives a knife or product “soul” in your opinion?

I’m not following the rationale in your answer here. So being able to “instantly identify the maker” is what “soul” is?RMPL

Easy, friend. Was just asking for clarification.Don’t expect all to follow my thinking, as explained, it’s my opinion, move on.
I have in many previous jobs been a buyer as well as a seller, not in knives but other products. Quality, service, material and price are all factors in buying a product. One factor is who is selling the product? The company is very important in decision making. Is the company honorable or have a bad reputation? The sales people, good or bad? To me, Benchmade, Spyderco, CRK as well as many other manufacturers have a soul because they have a stand up reputation, and are American companies which I want to support. An online entity with a presence that has integrity, to me has a soul. I would not buy a WE knife. Online integrity, hmmmm....I’m not following the rationale in your answer here.
