Here is a perfect example why I will never ship to ANY new member first or even simultaniously. I made a deal with a new member last week. HE offered to ship first I even offered more for the trade than he asked because most of you know I'm like that.He said he would be shipping out right away.Well a week later and MANY emails asking for an update I have heard nothing. He was VERY nice on the phone and I thought this was going to be a great trade for both of us.Well you can bet I will NEVER NEVER NEVER ship to anyone who can not show some type of history here. I didn't thank god ship to this person and I haven't lost anything except respect for a new member.

Not a good move on the newbee's part ! And showing a total lack of disregard for such a great guy like masterchef isn't too cool either ! ! :(

At a minimum, if there were going to be complications, he should have communicated the problem via e-mail or phone. Not too hard to do !

Sorry to hear that you got stiffed masterchef !

Like you said. . .at least you're not out anything except some respect, time and patience.

Thanks for the understanding Gig. I would never have even posted this but I'm getting tired of lack of communication!!!!!

He's right, let's hear a name. Someone else might be burned by this guy if you don't. Update us if it gets cleared up.

Well hears what I'm thinking. He hasn't "BURNED" me but his communication and mannerism is less than respectful. If he didn't want to do the trade he should have just said it. This item was fragile and needed to be shipped overnight. It's been over a week since he said he would ship it and I've tried to get a response on atleast 3 very courteous occations.Maybe I should have put this in "Wine & Cheese" but I'm getting a little tired of lack of communication and disrespect. I wanted the majority of members to read this in hopes it might help future dealings. I don't think I've ever posted a negative in GBU but you can bet I'm fed up!Heres what I will do. If I dont atleast hear from this person by 6/4 (6 days) I will post his name as a VERY bad trader. Does this seem proper? Thanks alot Mike

Sounds more than fair. I just had to post in here for the same thing. 20 days with no payment and now no communications. Some people just don't care how they conduct themselves I guess

TBG I did see your post. I'm sorry I didn't chime in but it's to the "Beating a dead horse" point and I don't know what to say anymore. Maybe we should all stop beating around the bush and post the names of people who have stretched the limits, not just by a couple of days but a couple of weeks with no communication.I have a few people that are VERY respected here who have SCREWED me and I just shut my mouth. Maybe it's time to say "WTF"?

I know what you mean!! I guess I am just harder on people than most since I have Eprompter set up to check my e-mail every minute on the minute and drop what I am doing to repond to any messages I recieve. I understand others have busy lives but 2-3 days is pleanty of time to respond

Personally, I think you ought to post up his name right now, so we know not to deal with him. If he's done this much dealing with you, he'll probably be even less reliable to members in the future.

I understand the frustration of waiting and getting no response, i have little problem if someone is having difficulties as long as they stay in touch and keep me updated, of course at some point you realize its one excuse after another, but sometimes, people really do have problems on their end that delay them.

Im wondering though if maybe this isnt one of those misunderstandings where something strange happened, like he sent emails, but they didnt get through, or he was called away out of town suddenly, or any number of unexpected things that can go wrong.

But yes, i too have decided to not send first or simultaniously with a newbie, i consider anyone with under 200 posts a newbie and ask them to ship first. Since i have about 900 posts here and literally tens of thousands of $ in trades/sales with zero problems, i feel they have a reason to trust me, and they should understand that unfortunately i have a reason to be a little skeptical with someone new.

Masterchef, its a shame you've gotten burned like this, even if you didn't lose a knife or money, its really discouraging when you deal with someone and they don't even make an attempt to live up to their part of the deal. I was considering just saying to heck with it and not bothering anymore, but at the least won't deal anymore unless its someone I know and/or respect (which includes everyone thats posted so far).

I am saddened to hear you got burned by a newbie Michael. You are too nice a guy, too generous, and loaded to the gills with integrity for this crap to happen.

Honest dealings and being a man of your word should be the standard here that all who frequent maintain. But that's the ideal and reality is somewhere below the ideal. It looks for some that it's FAR FAR below.
You as usual are being the kind, compassionate and fair individual we have all come to know in giving this Newb six days to make this deal good. Maybe you should toast his butt by telling us his name, but hopefully this is incentive enough for him to get this deal dealt. If not his time here at BFC is limited at best.

I hope it works out well for you Mike

Thanks all of you.Steve I know you were going through some recent crap yourself and I guess this post really is my reply to your problem as well. As always Ira your the man!!!! Megalobyte I'm thinking along the same lines as you. Something may have come up and I really don't want to fry a newbie if it's not necessary so I'm giving him the benifit of doubt. As I said he didn't rip me off or burn me but his mannerism or lack of is what's burning my shorts. We spoke on the phone and he was a gentleman,we agreed on our deal and finalized it,next step was overnight shipping or even second day would have been fine then nothing. You have got to be kidding me!! Even if he got called away he had my phone # and could have called. This does sound alot like wine and cheese but I'm going to make this an example of what not to do and as I said come wednesday I will post his name and what I really think of people like this.

The masterchef is a straight shooter and a reasonable man to deal with. If I were the new guy reading this thread, I think I'd shoot him an email right now and clear this mess up! geegee

Keep us up to date, Mike.

This was the proper place to post this;the members need to know about things such as this, so they use caution when doing deals with anyone new.

I hope that the person you were dealing with has the intestinal fortitude to step up, let us know who he is himself, and offer an explanation, possibly saving his hyde.

A lack of response in this case may indicate a lack of integrity and responsibility on his part.

As others have stated,Mike, your reputation here is beyond reproach, so no worries about that on your end.

Thanks Code3, geegee, and all of you!! You are all the reason I have learned to respect and honor the human race!!

I edited this because this person emailed me today.Seems he was having troubles. I do understand these situations but I am still stressing to EVERYONE how important communication is. It's to small of a community to let eachother down over simple things like communication.

Michael, sorry this happened to you. Since the day you got here I've never heard anything but positive feedback. Even though you're not out anything, it sucks when you think you've got a deal, you look forward to it, and then this. All the person had to do was email or phone and say they've had a change of heart, I'm sure you would have let it go.
