I will not buy a Sebenza. I will not buy a Sebenza. I will not buy a Sebenza!!!!!

I love my Sebenza, and you got an awesome model. I think you feel underwhelmed because of all the hype on the forums, you were expecting some life changing experience with it. After all, any knife is just a knife. But it grows on you. Carry it everyday for a week or two, I bet you'll change your mind. Using it two weeks and going back to one of your other production folders the differences will be obvious.

Well according to your signature you want to keep things simple. A locking mechanism doesn't get much simpler than a good ol framlock.
haha, just messin with ya. :D

Haha, I'll be perfectly content with a nice bali. I have my complains about frame lock, but I still like them. If it weren't for frame locks, I wouldn't have some of my nice flippers and flippers make me happy. :D

simplicity is not very popular, especially since ball bearing systems and IKBS have been around. I like simplicity, if you are actually a knife user, you want a simple knife that you can clean, put back together and put back to work with everything functioning without a hitch...

It's really not all that special. It's just a simple frame lock and the beauty is in the simplicity. I doesn't have fancy flipper or innovative locking mechanism, but it still works. Everyone should experience a Sebenza at least once to decide if they like them. I'm with you, it's underwhelming. I've tried 5 CRKs and I only have the Umnumzaan because I like the design.

Chris Reeve innovated the Integral lock (frame lock)

I keep saying I won't get one, but I know the day is coming. That's a fair chunk of cash to pay, and I keep talking myself out of it. I'll pull the trigger at some point.

I've always liked the simple look of Sebenzas, especially the Insingo, but I don't actually like the knife itself, nor the framelock, nor the price tag. I can see why it appeals to some people, but personally I like flat grinds and stronger locks. I honestly haven't seen many popular midtech knives that DON'T have a framelock, or titanium, or both. I'd actually rather spend my money customizing my Ritter Grip. To each their own, and agreed on handling the knife first if possible.

I'm still on the hunt for a mid tech or custom that really catches my eye. :/

OT but would that Ritter be the knife you were debating about getting just recently? Nice purchase!

OP what is the smaller [top] BM in your pictures?

I have always liked the 'benza, however I never have and never will own one, its a nice knife yes and I can't argue against it at all but for that price it had better be 5x the knife as my spyderco's or Benchmade's and I just don't see that it is.
However if I ever were to get one I believe it would be the same one you've got there, it's a beautiful knife!

Sbenzas almost have too much hype behind them. Dont get me wrong i love mine, but i also understand those who feel underwhelmed with them. The monstrous hype behind the sebenza gives it some pretty heafty expectations that i can see sometimes not being fully met for some people.

I've never held or used a Sebenza, so it's something I have to hold off on for judgement. That being said, I do really like some of their custom artwork they do for the handles and their Damascus variations are beautiful.

Do I really think you get more for your money than you do with a Spyderco Sage 2 for example? Tough call, does the extra $250 over the Sage 2 really get you that much more? I think you really have to like the way it fits in your hand and carries in the pocket to justify the extra cost.

I'm not a fan either. That's why I bought a Strider SnG.

I love my sebenza 25. Lately however I have been carrying mostly my Hinderer XM-18 slicer. They are my only two modern folding knives and unfortunately fill the same niche (pretty much). I am contemplating looking for a trade for a 21 insingo with CF like you have pictured, I think it would make the perfect compliment to my hinderer when i need something a little more "dressy".

Keep the Sebenza, or you may regret it down the line. Sell it in a year from now if you don't warm up to it.

Its the best made and designed production folder out there IMO, and I even prefer it over modern customs. I have and love many types of modern folders, but none come close to a Sebenza. That said, I carry Spyderco and traditionals as much as I do my CRK's.
Give it a try.

Sebenza's so far have not impressed me a lot but I do enjoy the smoothness and after some break in I feel like it will grow on me quick. Love the looks and I think it might take time. To me usually it is a pride of ownership thing and it will grow on me unless I just plainly do not like it but if that was the case I most likely would not buy it.

A Sebenza 21 will be one of the next knives I buy. I really just want to see in person why they are so highly regarded. I'll carry it for a while an if I don't like it I can always sell it to someone on the forum. I'm not expecting a life changing knife, but I like the way it looks and the simplicity of it so I think it will fit me.

Once you start actually using it you will start to appreciate how well it is made.

I just got an umnumzaan, was a bit put off, and put it on the shelf. Tried to sell it quick, and after dropping the price down $35 on what i paid, figured I should just carry it and see what its all about.

I'll just say that i'm in love with the hollow grind on this blade; it's a truly task-oriented grind that makes separating material a BREEZE. Can't say that about my FFG SnG, and even my beloved PM2 doesn't hold a candle to how thin the edge is.

I'm gonna give it a good go, It seems like CRKs often fetch decent resale values even with age, so I know i'm not burning myself. Maybe you should try it too?

I have four Sebenzas and not all of them click with me. The knife that I carry and use above not only the other CRKs but any other knife is my small Insingo. The simplicity, perfect size, and F&F just hits a perfect balance to boot anything else out of my pocket. Can't say that about the other three (large and small Classic and large Insingo). Bottom line is CRKs are a work of art from the manufacturing side but you really have to find that knife that speaks to you.
