I will not buy a Sebenza. I will not buy a Sebenza. I will not buy a Sebenza!!!!!

I have a micarta 21 Insingo and think it is a fantastic knife. It goes in rotation with my yellow mini Ritter grip and my 940. I think a lot of if you love it or not has to do with the model you get. I tried a small Sebenza and it didn't do anything for me, much like the BM 707. Though close in size to the mini grip, it just didn't cut it for me. Now the full size with the micarta grips, is excellent. Big yet slim, light, excellent grip, tough and has style in it's simplicity.

I think a lot of people think that if you spend $400 or more on a knife it's going to fix all the problems in the world and life will be perfect. Not so.. it has to fit your lifestyle, needs and what feels good to you. I always wondered what the hype was about Sebenza b/c I know they cut the same as a $40 knife, so why is it $400? Well, when I got mine I understood. The craftsmanship, tolerances and attention to detail is phenomenal!! Now being as I make knives myself (though no professional), I got it.. and appreciate it. The subtleties that most may not understand or see, I do. So it all has to do with perspective. If you are into tactical prybars, it won't do it for you.. but I bet you'd be surprised what it can do.

Maybe trade it for a full size or a different handle setup. I'd think with the small that the carbon fiber may be to slick and a some traction would benefit, so a small micarta my be what does do it for you.

Large Micarta Sebenza is what changed my mind. Although I really like the Umnumzaan, I never warmed up to a plain sebenza.

Pretty happy with my Sebenza 25
I've sold off most of my collection now

They are amazing knives. But I was not overly impressed with mine when I purchased it either. F and F was nice.
That said my buddies Umnum is a horse of a different color. Try that maybe?

The good thing is that they hold the value well and I did not lose a dollar. If its not for you just put er up for sale!

I may put it up for sale. I've been considering thinning my heard anyway. I think there is way too much hype. Also, I don't think it is worth the $395 I paid for it. There are many other knives in my collection that offer more, IMHO, various steel choices, better ergonomics, etc. I'm not experiencing any of the "smoothness" that most talk about. I know that will likely break in over time and usage. I'm underwhelmed due to all the hype.

I own 2 Sebenzas, a 21 and a 25, both full sized basic models. I like them both, but have not had the cathartic experience some seem to have with these. I am underwhelmed as well. Good knives, great F&F, but would not spend the same $ for either again. Same with my Strider SnG, again a good solid folding knife, but not worth the price tag IMO. It is such a subjective measure though, to me the Spyderco Gayle Bradley is the best EDC i have ever owned. A very close second would be the Grayman Dua.

Just my $.02

I love my Grayman Dua. I think I even prefer the Dua over my small Sebenza 21 or small Regular. Super smooth knife, broke in amazingly well. But the Spyderco Techno beats them all. To me anyways. That sounds so crazy but it's true!
