I will not buy a spyderco knife.

Meh, buy whatever gets the job done best, at a price you can afford. Let competition and free markets sort out the rest.

Those are some pretty weak excuses for boycotting Spyderco. You're actually doing a disservice to yourself and not Spyderco by depriving yourself some of the best made knives on the market.

I like my Spyderco knives.
I never even heard of the company when I bought my Tenacious, I just thought it was a cool looking blade.

I have owned as many as 15, but am down to 8 now. All are superb knives, and I have no regret buying them.

As far as OP being a troll, I will save the petty name calling for if this thread gets moved to W&C.

ITT: 3-5 pages of people arguing with a guy over his poorly-justified opinion - an opinion ultimately of no consequence to anyone but himself.

Good ol' internet - where vitriol, insults, and zealots are guaranteed no matter the subject!

(Also, hey, look at me being the cool guy. Staying out of it and passively taking a swipe at everyone else. EVERYBODY LOSES.)

Wow, three pages in such a short amount of time...

Who cares if they're made overseas? I think it's ridiculous to look down upon a blade from, say, Seki City and say "I won't buy that 'cos 'Murika".

Fine it you have an issue with Chinese ethics, or something, but a blanketing dislike for anything not made in the USA strikes me as extremely narrow-minded.

Not all of us are even American... buy Japanese!

Folks, don't feed the troll, he was only good for a couple posts.

Because unlike Kershaw or Bechmade they do not specify 'lifetime warranty'. And most of their products are made overseas!

So all you really came here for was to drop a little troll sauce, congrats. Let me just say that it's always best to make some effort to educate yourself on things before making such pointlessly bold and sweeping uninformed statements. It's your prerogative to buy whatever you like, but please for your own sake...get your information somewhat straight before making a fool of yourself publicly.

KAI, the parent company of Kershaw, ZT, and Shun is based in Japan. Spyderco has headquarters in Golden, Colorado, USA Earth. That is biggest thing you missed and the most obvious. Benchmade has knives manufacturerd overseas as well, albeit under a different name (HK), they still fall under the Benchmade umbrella.

Exactly. Obvious troll is obvious.

*please don't take any offence by this, I'm just stating my opinion, and I don't mean to say you're opinion is wrong, mine just happens to be different*

First off, do you own any spyderco knives? also why do you care about a warranty? if the knife in question is of quality and you don't abuse it, you shouldn't have to worry about the warranty.

Now on the subject of U.S.A made knives vs foreign made knives:

I love usa made. but I don't let that limit me to only usa made knives, the reason people will buy a $200 made in Taiwan spyderco (such as the southard) is because spyderco has excellent quality control and because it is in fact a very well made knife.

It's the same reason people buy, kershaws they have excellent quality control, use quality materals, and have a excellent warranty.

You have to realize that the the fact that spyderco's warranty is almost exactly the same as kershaw's in every way, exept for the wording, kershaw states a lifetime warranty, and spyderco doesn't. but nowhere in spydercos warranty dose it state that the knife won't be coverd for the lifetime of the the user.

And in over all I think life is much more enjoyable if you keep an open mind!

Feel free to ignore every single word of what I just said (I hope you don't)

Sorry I rambled on lol

Have a good night every one and a happy Easter to!!

P.S
I hope we can all keep this civil, I think there's allot to be learned from this thread, and some people's minds could be opend.....I will end this post with a quote from William Cowper that I find appropriate, “Variety's the very spice of life, That gives it all its flavor”.....just somthing to keep in mind.

On and please don't move this to W&C.....This thread will become usless, and no one will learn any thing.

Japanese Spyderco knifes have some of the best fit and finish along with its VG-10 steel, Hell even the China models are not to bad ...Psst also Kershaw has China made models if ya didn't already know. The warranty is not bad at all The customer service is above standard, having lost a few screws and pocket clips in my 17 years of using Spyerco knives (first one at 13), I've never had a issue getting them replaced.
Once I saved a older Centofante blue Pearloid Vesuvius from a pawn shop the Torx screws all with striped heads, Sent a email to em and with the information about the knife/damage and was promptly shipped all affect parts with in reason as it is a dated piece. The warranty is void but the company still went out of its way with no cost to me, to fix my issue with their brand. A+ in that aspect, As you can read from this thread just about everyone loves Spyderco and with great reasons. This has been my experience with them and it was a pleasure every time with no hassles or other obstacles just pure C.S.

He forgot the most glaring reason...there are no Spyderco knives listed in my book!

But I buy them anyway. :)

That's already guaranteed. :)

Ok good point....but I just spent a half hour trying not to be insulting....I'm not letting all that go's to waste d*mit!

and really even if its just one person, I would like some one to come away form this thread a little wiser:thumbup:
