I won the knife lottery!

There was someone on the forum not long ago that bought a batch of knives at similar next to nothing prices then he was making up sob stories and trying to sell them for nearly retail price.
If they sell them for less than they can be found new anywhere else, what's the problem?

So I wake up this morning and check my e-mail only to find that the order has been cancelled. They said an "error" occured while processing my order. You think?

I am not surprised one bit or even angry. Someone did make a huge mistake, I guess it was too good to be true. Was kind of expecting it.

Yes that was the knife. Unfortunately today they e-mailed me canceling the order, it was just too good to be true.

Oof! That'd be a tough email to get. :( At least you're handling it better than many people would. Thumbs up for that.:cool:

D'oh! Bummer dude... I bet if you had only ordered a couple it might have went on through?

Oh well, at least you called and reported it. Good karma for you.

On Saturday I was browsing some Bark River knives because I love them. Of course this particular very big store who will not be mentioned had a lot to choose from. As I scrolled down to page 5 I saw some Bravo Squad leaders 116 with different handle scales listed for 4 dollars...yes 4 bucks. Needless to say I put one of each in my cart thinking the price would correct itself, it didn't after shipping the 4 cost me 32 bucks! Feeling a bit convicted I contacted the company to see if my order was legit. The woman confirmed my order for 32 bucks. I told her that these knives should be more than 4 dollars, I don't think she fully understood what I was trying to convey. She thanked me for shopping with them. I returned to the store and purchased 8 more at 4 bucks a pop. Shortly after that they were "no longer available" Just in time to hand them out for Christmas! Unfortunatly for them someone had made a critical error in pricing the merchandise online.

Did you at least get the eight @$4 per when you went to the store?

Zero

That's actually not cool of them at all. I'd be upset if I were you. In terms of contract law, they offered at a certain price, and you accepted. Once you have an offer and acceptance the deal is done. Legally, they should be bound. Ethically, it was not your error that lead to some misunderstanding. In fact, you did everything in your power to alert them to their error.

They priced incorrectly, and as the buyer once you buy it, it's on them to honor it even if there was a mistake on their part. I have my own business and I know that sometimes I make an error. When that happens, it's on me to just chalk it up to the cost of doing business and do the honorable thing. I don't bail because it's more convenient or cost effective.

I am in agreement with this, however, to be fair. This could be a somewhat small knife shop, and the loss of over a thousand dollars could be a tremendous blow. Me personally, I think that if he hadn't tried to buy 8 of them, but just the one, they miiiiight have let it slip through. But as soon as they saw that he was taking advantage of their error, they did the only thing they probably could do, and just admit the error and kill the order.

Frankly, I knew that was going to be the outcome the moment I read the first post.

The site that offered them for 4 dollars was not a small shop. The actual supplier that fulfilled the orders may be smaller, I don't know firsthand.. but the store that made the price mistake could definitely afford the mistake

Ignore list. Just because something is legal doesn't make it right. OP did the right thing by trying to let them know and then accepted it when they saw their mistake. OP sounds like a decent person.

Assuming that I found and ordered from the same store, my order has not been cancelled. Yet.
