I would really like a compression lock Military and Civilian, would anyone else?

I consider that to be like a backlock PM2/Millie, for the Stretch/XL.
EDIT: just saw the comment above that you were replying to.

The Military 2 has the blade shape of the Military, not the PM2, so I don't get all the PM2 XL remarks. Does the lock, or the blade make the knife,, and who says?

So the Polce 4 is significantly thicker than the Stretch XL? I've been looking to get a large backlock Spyderco, other than an Endura, and am debating between a Police, Stretch XL, and Native Chief. And yeah, it's crazy how some sprints are site-breaking, but some... like, I woke up to make sure I got two M4 Dodos this last drop, and to my knowledge, they're still online. Hell, people were selling them on Ebay for double the price for a while, that surprised me.

Surprises me about the Ladybug, too. Wanted K390 and wanted the cheapest one I could get, but went with a Dragonfly simply because they had it in a Wharncliffe profile.

Now I need to make a thread "I would really like a Reverse-S Military 2"

The blade stock on the P4 is also thinner than the Military, but the handle is thicker than the Stretch XL. It also has nested, skeletonized liners that add a bit of weight and rigidity for those who think that a knife has to be heavy. I choose the P4 over the XL for the steel, not the weight. Put K390 in the Stretch XL and I'll have a new favorite.

The sheepsfoot Ladybug I referred to was the LB 2. It seems to have been ahead of its time judging by how the straight edge has caught on the last few years.

No, just about every single design feature present makes a PM2 XL: 4 way clip, the stupid clip itself, obviously the comp lock. And don’t forget the PM2s forerunner, the PM was essentially a downsized Millie. Their blade shapes are very similar.

If they discontinue the standard military pattern after a year or two, I will be crushed.

Huh? You think that the PM1 was "essentially a downsized Millie? " Think again.

The PM1 is smaller than the PM2 and larger than the Para 3 and NONE of them is anything like a Millie. If it's not already obviously, from top to bottom, here are the PM1, PM2, Para 3 and Military:

While the blade shape of both the Para 1 and 2 bear a certain resemblence to the Millie's blade shape, any comparison between them and the Millie is merely incidental because it is the length/size of the blades that determines their overall shape/appearance.

So, from what I saw in the Knife Center video, the Millie 2 (even if it is reshaped a bit) will still look like a Millie and there will be no mistaking it for a PM2 simply based on its size.

Dude, if you read the Spyderco literature they specifically say the PM1 was produced to make a smaller version of the military. Its not a coincidence it shares the Millie’s same clip, sarge.

I'm not questioning that the Para Military 1/2 and Para 3 are "cousins" to and were inspired by the Military.

That is well known. I just took exception (perhaps too quickly) to the notion that the Para 1/2 are simply "downsized" versions of the Millie because I consider them knives entirely unlike the Millie. So, we may just be talking about different things and leave it at that.

BTW, the Shaman was originally conceived as a derivation of the Native but the similiarities between the Shaman and Native simply evade me, unlike the Native Chief which IMO shares a much greater resemblence to the Native than does the Shaman.

Truly this is the ultimate demonstration of CQI and a company responding to customer demand…

The Military was the original.

People asked for a smaller one and the Paramilitary was made

The paramilitary was improved upon and the PM2 is the result.

Some features from the PM2 were added to the Military (bigger lanyard hole and stepped stop pin and screw sizes and standoffs)

People wanted a smaller PM2 and they got it…. Para 3

People loved the PM2 and Para 3 so much that they wished they had the original with all the evolved features of the PM2/3 models (comp lock and four way clip)

The Military was re-designed to have the 4-way and comp lock and they re profiled the handle and the new PM2 XL was designed…

Sorry. The Military 2. I feel the name is dual purpose… to denote version 2 of the military but also to give a nod to the PM2 from which nearly every design feature had been borrowed.

I wonder how much closer we are to the release of the Military 2?????

Even though im not a fan of the compression lock I want to try one.

If it doesnt top the C36 Military for me, then nothing will.

I can't recall where, but Sal mentioned it wouldn't be released until some time in 2023-2024. Hopefully sooner than later, but good things come to those who wait (or so I've been told🙄).

I guess I have time to save then. By 2024 it will be $400.

But it's just a clone of the regular Millie w/black G10 scales and an S30V blade.

Not enough to make me what to buy it (yet). 🤷‍♂️
I also think that is a bit of a silly award, but when I made this thread, it wasn't because I wanted some crazy innovation. Just a simple boy with a simple dream of a larger, 'bout 4" PM2, as well as a reverse S on a comp lock.

I know the Civilian 2 is something you guys have been planning, Sal Glesser Sal Glesser and I know a lot of people want a Salt Matriarch in LC200N or something (maybe call it an Amphitrite? Matriarch of the sea...), as well as the rumors of a ReverSe PM2 being made, please give us the comp lock reverse S shape of 4" with a wave!
