OFF. Too damn cute. As Lou Grant said to Mary Richards "I hate cute".

It's easier to get forgiveness than permission.

I can take em'or leave em'does'nt matter.
I would like to see a translation of the
intended meanings of each icon.

I like'em now that I'm getting used to them.

I like them and I vote to keep them.
If you don't like them, don't use them.

The votes seem split. They are distracting to me. However, it's nothing I can't get used to.. eventually.

But it also seems kind of hard to take this place seriously now. Maybe this is the kind of image you're going for Spark; people-friendly and user-friendly. But it may also turn off the more serious people.

My personal opinion is to follow the KISS rule. If something doesn't serve a real function, get rid of it. But that's just me and it's not my call. And like I said, if you decide to keep it, it's not going to kill this place.

I know this isn't where I will vote (in a minute or two) but just to explain myself, I too feel that they really don't serve a function -- they just take up space. I do like some of the new look, but I don't really see the point to these little icons on the forum directory pages. They aren't so bad on the "thread" pages, so if it's possible to display them in the thread, I'd be happy enough to do that, but on the directory page, all you get anyway is the icon chosen by the original poster, which may or may not say anything at all about the tone of the thread as a whole after topic drift and all.

I vote to leave them for use in the body of a message but to get rid of them in the message list display.
