Please check post http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...le-odd-balls-for-sale?p=15357677#post15357677 .

I feel that I didn't get a fair shake when I tried numerous ways to do a work around on email problems. I posted my email in the messages, he had to know I was a committed buyer, I requested his PP info more than once. What else could I have done? I'll post the body of messages here too for your perusal!

Spyderco - More little odd balls for sale

I have four Spydercos for sale. Some of these are starting to get a bit rare out in knifeland, but new or used, rare or not, all of these share that special quirky magic that Spyderco seems to bake into all of its little big knives. Thanks for looking!

Unless noted, all of these knives include their original boxes, and none of the knives has been sharpened. No Edge-U-Cation sheets are included unless noted. All have spent several years in storage, so may have minor scratches, flaws, etc. If you have any specific questions, please ask. First to post "I'll take it" in this thread, followed by a PM/email and prompt payment gets the item.

Conditions: PayPal only, prices are USD net to me, regular Canada shipping included, USA add $5, international PM first, tracking/insurance extra, if the item crosses a border then buyer accepts all responsibility once item ships, ships from Canada, no trades thanks! You must be 18 or older to buy. I reserve the right to refuse sale for whatever reason.

1. First up, we have a BNIB Spyderco Navigator 2 in Serrated Edge. It still has the protective plastic on the handles, as you can see in the pics. The Navigator makes an excellent EDC knife. It's small enough that you can carry it with your keys, but big enough that you can get a solid grip on it for cutting, and the serrated edge VG-10 blade holds a nice cutting edge for light edc chores for a long time. Specs: Blade Length: 2 1/4", Weight: 2.7oz

Price: $85

2. Next up is a BNIB 2012 Sprint Run Spyderco Meerkat in Burgundy FRN with a 2" PE VG-10 blade and the cool Phantom Lock. The knife includes the original Edge-U-Cation paper.
Price: $120

3. Next, we have a BNIB Spyderco Goddard Jr. White Micarta. I'm the original owner, and the knife has never been used, carried, or sharpened. That being said, if you look closely, the white micarta has some black spots from less than perfect factory finishing, and the blade is off center to the right when closed. This is a rare Spyderco that you won't find anywhere at this price. Price: $75 sold

4. Lastly is a Sprint Run Spyderco Rookie with Foliage Green G-10, LNIB. The knife has never been used or sharpened, but I may have carried it in my suit pocket to work a few times. It looks perfect except for a tiny scratch on the backspacer that is too small to show up in pics. Some consider the Rookie to be the ultimate small Spyderco. It has a really cool 'thinness', and the blade seems incredibly long for such a compact handle. Specs: Blade length: 3", Weight: 2.2oz. This is another rare Spyderco that shows the best of Seki-City's craftsmanship.Price: $140

Sorry man but, as of now, I STILL haven't received any email from you. I checked my spam folder too, and there's definitely nothing there. I'm receiving other messages and my email is working fine. So the Goddard is now sold to joeldworkin307. He posted an "I'll take it" a minute after you, but he followed up first with a PM (plus an email) plus prompt payment. Those were my terms clearly stated in my thread, precisely to avoid this kind of problem.

Bitter about this! Even provided you with my email.....waited and waited. You disappear for 21 minutes after your last post while I continue to try to work things out. NICE. Finally had to run out for a few minutes and come back to this. No one should do business with you

Others will be by shortly to razz you.

My suggestion is to delete this thread. Go back to the original sale thread and delete all the whiny posts, and move on with your life.

Also, more importantly, you must change your name, and move to a new town. Grow a mustache and then shave it off.

It's the only way to put this poor display behind you.

But seriously, I would go back and delete the turds you left in his sales thread.

There was no deal yet. He had specific rules. The first person to meet his criteria got the knife.

This thread will give entertainment for other members, but I don't believe your righteous indignation will endear you to any other sellers.

I usually put that I reserve the right to refuse to sell to anyone, for any reason. Basically so if I don't like someone I can snub them. There are a few on the list.

Most here keep a list.

"I'll take it" is an offer to buy. Until the seller accepts your offer there is no deal. It is totally up to the seller whether he wants to do business with you. That's the rule here and the law everywhere.

I'm not sure why sellers say "first one to post here AND follow up with PM/email gets it." It just seems to invite the type of problems exemplified here. Why not just give it to the first one who posts "I'll take it" in the thread, provided they follow up with payment in a timely manner?

To be clear, the seller here said:
. I reserve the right to refuse sale for whatever reason.

To be clear, the seller here said....

I understand, and sellers can do whatever they want. Nor am I condoning Qcrazy's reaction. I just don't get people's reasoning behind the "post + message gets it" policy. I just sell to whoever says "I'll take it" first, and I've never had any issues. To each his own, though!

Well, it is one way to get a valid email from a buyer. It gives a way to contact them if they stop checking here, or forget their password, or dissapear, and you need to communicate before sending a knife off in the mail.

It also gives another bit of info to search feedback with.

Also, if someone can't follow instructions, it helps weed them out.

Oh, and some people don't stay logged in and stare at theither for sale threads while hitting refresh again and again to see if some one has posted an "I'll take it."

My reason is that I have email alerts on my cell phone...... for three different emails, actually. When I am at work, or out and about, I can change my notifications if i have an item for sale on here, if some one emails me an I'll take it, I can get back to him quicker.

You are assuming that this caused a problem with this sale.

I suggest that the very act of requiring an I'll take it in the thread, followed up with a second confirmation email has had the exact effect desired for the seller. It allowed the seller to separate the wheat from the chaff.....as it were.

He immediately sold the knife to some one who could post both an I'll take it, and communicate through email.

But, more importantly, it prevented a deal with some one who then took a huge dump in his for sale thread, and then posted this second thread for us to enjoy. It's winning, all arround!

Bad title.
There was no deal. If no deal there couldn't be a deal that went bad.

You didn't get the knife. He didn't get your email. He got the other guys, and that person paid right away.
He told you that yet you just kept crapping up his sales thread, and he closed it.
Hope they will let him relist them without waiting 2 weeks, since you messed it up.

You overreacted there and here. Best to just move along and not let it get to you so much.

I'm going to wait for the movie version of this epic saga to be released. And then I'm not going to see it.

:D

Um....because if they can't be bothered to find a way to contact me after saying they will take it why would I want to enter into a transaction with such an imbecile? Part of ensuring a deal goes smoothly is to not deal with idiots. And how are they going to get my paypal address without contacting me? Shall I post it in the thread and thus offer to do business with anyone and everyone?

In any deal communication is a key element to having the transaction go smoothly. If a buyer can't communicate properly with me they have failed on the basic foundation of what makes a good exchange.

As for the OP? Another one for the list.

You DO have to give OP props for coming up with an apt username.

I'm convinced it's primarily conformism. They see others do it, so they do it.

"I'll take it" is meaningless. Want decoupled from payment is meaningless.

I'm not going to read through all that slop in the OP. It's illegible. I will make a point about it. What a mess. Clean it up, then maybe people will read it.

If you want to deal with people have all your necessary info done and organized upfront. Organization, really it matters. Make sure your e-mail address works. Make sure your sending people in the right direction, not a misleading one. When was the last time a hiring manager would give more than 30 seconds to a resume? They wouldn't. If your communications are slop, what do you expect? If the best you can do is compose rambling and incoherent messages, you already lost.

Everything Cray just said here is spot on as usual.

Sellers knife, he can sell to who ever he wants as stated in his add.....

For $10.00 your name goes Purple, but that's not important, you also get to use the PM function which makes transactions/communication so much easier.....

^^^ This... It never ceases to amaze me how cheap some people are. They think they're saving. Well, maybe. Not in this case, and probably a lot of other cases. Clean and clear communications do cost.

Holy freaking crap.......?????????????????????????
Reserving the right to SELL TO WHOM EVER THEY WISH..means that.
I state in all my sales thread..That and I own NO ONE an explanation..WHY I chose
not to sell to any party..NO money exchanged hands..NOTHING too bring up..
WELL except..The potential,,BUYER is a bit upset...Get over it and go forward..
He didnt receive your email and or any other form of communication.
DONE DEAL...
I would have sold to the next in line that paid immediately.
Pay for PM options..It helps to back up communication.
Chalk it up and move along.........
These stories are becoming OLD HAT...But quite entertaining.................................
Yet again....Ignore list builds..............

I couldn't read the post either, but if you use the link it is readable-not better, just readable
