I'd like to see what members think of this deal gone bad. #post15357677

I can honestly say TL;DR.

I say no deal was made so there's nothing that went bad, you lose. I agree with the whiney post thing, remove them out you'll forever be labeled "that whiney bf guy from the exchange."

As a "cheap ass" member who has spent quite a lot of money here, I can understand. Why won't seller's post their Pay Pal address on the "for sale" thread?

I'll take it and then pay. It shouldn't be that difficult.

There are a few issues with this.

I don't want just anyone to have my PayPal address, only the person I intend to deal with. Anyone perusing the forums would have it. Don't want to know what some malicious hacker could do with it and don't intend to find out.

Also, if you get a few "I'll take its" posted within a matter of minutes and they all immediately send money you have to deal with refunding money.

Nothing wrong with how the Exchange works as is. I'll take it. Send an email or PM to get payment info. Send payment and then ship the goods. That's usually how it goes. Simple and keeps a clean line of communication.

Adding to what Benchwarmer said.....

I don't want to sell to just anyone. Just like there are bad sellers there are bad buyers. I don't want to sell to someone who has displayed themself to be a problem for sellers. When entering into a transaction as a buyer or seller you should always do your research.

Quite simple common sense really.....

You guys nailed it.
In the end, sellers prerogative. We merely provide the venue, it's up to the seller and buyer to do their own legwork. We only get involved when we are asked for help with issues that are too far gone. Examples would be makers that have disappeared with money and/or not delivered within a reasonable and agreed upon time frame, people that are painfully new to the buying/selling process as a whole, or when someone spots a person with a proven track record of shady dealings and flaky behavior. We don't want anyone to get burned here, on either end of the transaction and people need to know how things go before they jump in with both feet and learn the ropes.

I haven't sold anything yet on the exchange, but when I get ready to do so, I'm adding "I will not accept offers from crybabies" to the conditions.

It happens. I tried to pick up that little Goddard is well. To be honest, he was giving it away practically at that price but I'm not sore about it.
