"Idaho" Stamping Ideas

Many of us have complained about the location of the "Idaho Made" stamping on the Sebenzas. If I read Chris Reeve's post correctly, the stamping is here to stay, but he may consider a different location. Instead on continuing to whine about it, I thought maybe we can try to find a solution. I wanted to start this thread so people can post ideas, and brainstorm alternative locations.

(Please only post pictures here if you are willing to allow Chris Reeve to use your ideas without expectation of any compensation.)

Here are some of my ideas.

In a quick somewhat related question, This may sound stupid but I just got my first Sebenza last week. It's a Large Classic and I can see inside the scales that it is stamped "6 05", I am assuming this is the birthdate?

Anyway, someone had suggested in the "Idaho Made" thread that the inside of the scales would be a good place to stamp "Idaho Made".

That's a B and an 05, I think. The B means the titanium slab was made in the second trimester of the year (I believe), and then you were right for the year. The birthdate could be as much as a year after the year on the inside of the slab.

Thanks brother.

I like the example of the blade stamp a lot better than what it currently is.

Nice job Adamar

Adamar,

Ditto for me, too. I have some ideas, and your photo provides an excellent canvas.

My vote is to have the existing "IDAHO MADE" engraving centered on the very top inside of the front handle, orientated either right side up or upside down.

When I take my Sebenza apart to clean and lube it, many times I will put a small label strip on the top inside of the front handle with my name and phone number on it. That way if my knife gets lost, a person would know whom to contact to return it.

The placement works well because even though it's on the inside, it's easily visible when holding the knife a certain way without disassembling it. Also, by having it on the inside of the front handle, it's a little less noticeable because it's not visible at any angle when looking at the front of the knife, rather it's only visible when viewing the knife from the back at the correct angle. So, for instance, when taking pictures of the Sebenza from the front at any angle it would never be visible, which I think is a nice touch.

Subtle, yet still visible and tasteful.

Adamar,

If you prefer that I not use your photo as a canvas, let me know and I'll take down these photos.

Anyway, here are some ideas, using Adamar's photo as a starting point. I used Myriad Pro Italic as the font, because it is somewhat close to what is used on the Star-Benza's "IDAHO MADE" lettering.

Ken,

All of those look great:thumbup:

Though I don't look for a change from what Chris has decided on.

I would like to see it on the tang-fairly normal for that sort of thing.
I like the clip and also the better and smaller lettering at base of front scale (in 1st examples). Actually like a lot of the ideas. 1st thing Chris needs to do is get it facing in the right direction.

Placing it on the clip would not serve the purpose that Mr. Reeve wants. Anyone can remove the clip and replace it with another. You wouldn't know if it was counterfeit or not.

I like it on the lock bar, but I can live with it where ever he puts it.

I like the Idaho state stamp, this would look cool on the blade also. I also like the lock bar stamp! Heck, you could practically do both!!

Sorry guys but none of those Idaho made stamps (including the map) work for me.

I would like to see CRK engage a graphic designer who could come up with a more fitting image.

The "MM Classic" image looked great in my opinion, but the words "Idaho made" just leave me cold. :thumbdn:

But can't they engrave counterfeits? Also, I can't seen any really decent knockoffs or counterfeit CRK.

+1, a graphic designer would make it much more palatable.
