Ideas please

I would take my wife out to dinner and try to convince her why I needed $125 for my next knife purchase (it takes money to make money ;) ).

But seriously - I would get one of those Wilderness adventure kits - heat sheet emergency bivi and then a bunch of firesteel blanks with the rest of the cash from Ben's Backwoods.

Excellent replies, folks! Thank you VERY MUCH! You guys have given me some great ideas.:cool:

A harmonica so you can play music like Les when you're stuck in a survival situation.

How about a wool blanket?

Get a slingshot to play around with.

Maxpedition bottle holder and Guyot Standard.

Big +1! Since you mentioned walking sticks, check out Brazo's Sticks for crafted sticks in wood you might not find or have access to :) All good suggestions in this thread, might have to check out a few for myself...

edit: I read "staff" not "stuff" in the OP:o Worth checking out anyway :)

For survival & outdoor DVDs, take a look at my signature! ;) (I really should come up with a WSS coupon code, but I'm not sure how to do that without violating forum rules. Any ideas, Brian?)

Flix, is that your site? I have been wanting to get on board there, lots of really great movies!

Yup. The "big guys" wouldn't carry the DVDs I wanted so I decided to do it myself.

on_the_edge, I would also second j williams's suggestion of the Guyot Standard bottle. A silnylon tarp might be had for near that amount as well.

Ok, now I keep going to the www.campingsurvival.com website. I think I might be in trouble. I am just surprised that I have never seen it before. I think that is where I will end up. Fortunately, I have a little time to sift through the myriads of great things if I just ask for a gift card. Thanks to everyone, especially SpookyPistolero (I think...we'll see how much I need, but can't afford ;):p ).

Wow! Cool, I will get over there soon and get signed up. Great idea man!!

Sil tarp would be very cool.

Cool man, glad you found some stuff you liked. There's all kinds of neat things there. The people are also a pleasure to do business with, quick shipping and good communication.

We'll see if you thank me after the credit card bills start rolling in I guess. :D

Hey FLIX, since you brought it up, have you been using your Guyot for cooking, or heating up water? An update to your 'pimping' thread is in order. :D

Hi Doc - Unfortunately, to date I have only used the Guyot as a water bottle. :o You're right, though - I need to use it and report back. (Stay tuned.)

Good, FLIX, I'm looking forward to it. I think I have something coming up (maybe this weekend), as well, that you might like to do with it. :D
