If I clip a knife on the inside of my pocket, will the average person notice that I have a knife?

Nope. Not if you go about your business in a normal and unsuspicious manner. I see plenty of people walking around with knives clipped to their pocket, and I work in Silicon Valley. I've been carrying a knife clipped to my pocket for 20+ years.

IF you are the type to strut around and always go patting your "blade" or making similar moves, then it may be different.

I notice because I look for knives. I play a game in my head trying to identify what people are carrying by the clip.

Before I was really into knives.I never noticed ANYONE carrying, now that I look for it I see lots of people carrying.

So to answer your question I dont think so

Depends the average where? In the city, probably nobody. In the country, most people would know what it is, but wouldn't care.

I would think a woman would notice but a non-knife guy won't. Women tend to notice accessories and things like that.

The pocket clip of my blade is clearly visible, I have been carrying this way for years and I have never had a problem.

Also depends on whether of not your shirt is tucked in. A simple thing, maybe, but important.

Also depends on the look of the clip. Small clips are less likely to attract attention. Some knives have the clip mounted closer to the pommel or bolster, which will allow the knife itself to sit further down inside your pocket.

A very shiny, or all black clip is going to get more notice, although I think it depends on how sharply it contrasts with the color pants you're wearing.

It probably depends on where you live, but in my experience, no. I live in southern California, and the only times I've ever had people comment on the knife clipped to my pocket were the handful of times when I was talking to friends and had specifically mentioned that I carry/collect knives. Most of the time, especially in a place like SoCal, people don't notice, and even if they do see that something is clipped inside my pocket, chances are they won't recognize it as a knife.

I carry a knife all the time for years and no one has ever noticed. I even have had people ask if I had a knife they could borrow for a second when I had said knife clipped to my pants right in front if them! Most people are pretty oblivious to small stuff around them.

Maybe or maybe not. I think you're asking the wrong question though. The question should be "if anyone notices, do I really care?" The answer should be a combination of your personal preferences when it comes to social perception and what your local laws are. Pay close attention to the latter.

I have never had anyone notice and I have carried by a pocket clip for years.

If you casual wear is an untucked polo shirt like mine is, it generally conceals it anyways.

The matte gray clips work well. The Sebenza clip is practically invisible and no one ever notices.

Most might not notice, but those who would probably include police/first responders, potential criminals, and other knife enthusiasts. Does this matter? I don't know.

Not in Texas :) Everyone is packing! and we ride horses everywhere too :) Seriously, where I live about 90% of men carry a knife, so no one
really notices because it's the norm.

In my experience, 90% of folks won't notice. Even when I carry knives with bright shiny pocket clips, folks don't seem to pay them any mind. Now, I have had police officers notice on a couple occasions, and buddies of mine who know that I'm a knife dork will notice when I have something clipped to my pocket. Perhaps it's only people that are looking for it in the first place who will notice...

Precisely. If you are not actively or potentially posing a threat...people really don't care what you are doing.

In New York City, knives have to be completely concealed, by law. So showing a clip is illegal, and in the current law enforcement climate, police are looking for this and will harass or arrest you for it. No one else cares. :)
