if i clip a knife on the inside of my poket, will the average citizen even notice?

Not in Texas :) Everyone is packing! and we ride horses everywhere too :) Seriously, where I live about 90% of men carry a knife, so no one
really notices because it's the norm.

Ram
+1 Agreed! I don't usually notice, unless they catch my eye, like if it is a high grade folder.

Situational awareness is not a big forte of the general public. Like others here I look fook for knives whenever I'm out amongst the population. Also why I put the fold-over, deepcarry, shortened clips on my knives. I also cover most, if not all with the black 3M stair step tape, as I wear jeans, or darker pants most of the time. Clip blends in with them.

I notice because I look for knives. I play a game in my head trying to identify what people are carrying by the clip.

Before I was really into knives.I never noticed ANYONE carrying, now that I look for it I see lots of people carrying.

So to answer your question I dont think so

Best game ever

I went through that concern when I carried a CCW the first day I got my permit but as it turned out, unless they are one of us, no one ever notices - not in my experience anyway - I look for knife clips because I'm a Knife guy though!

I live in Texas but rarely see anyone carrying anything unless I've given it to them haha. Unfortunately I rarely see people carrying knives. I have mine clipped in my pocket proudly, and I'd love it if someone stopped me to talk about it. Not in a negative way, but if someone were curious what kind of knife it is and wanted to chat about it.

In New York City, knives have to be completely concealed, by law. So showing a clip is illegal, and in the current law enforcement climate, police are looking for this and will harass or arrest you for it. No one else cares. :)

I live in NYC and I've been stopped by the police once for having my knife clipped to my pocket and I keep my knives in my pocket unclipped now. But, most people really wouldn't notice unless you're a knifenut :P

Nope, nobody noticed. So far. On the other hand, I have a neck knife, and when I bend over, run, you can tell I have something on the necklace... people won't make that out right??

Trust me you can whip out a smallish fixed blade in a crowded college lecture hall, or walk through a crowded mall flipping a butterfly knife and no one will make a peep. People are livestock, its actually kind of disgusting.

I find that part about the butterfly knife in the mall really hard to believe. In a crowded mall it seems there would be accidental carnage. Have you really done this, or was that pure supposition? Hyperbole perhaps?

Assuming the general populace are all sheep is kind of...sheep-like isn't it?

I was worried about carrying in Canada, since legally the knife has to be visible. Mostly because I figured if I had it too concealed, and a cop still noticed, he might hassle me, and if I carried it too overtly, I might get hassled, or looked at weird anyway. I've been carrying regularly for over a year, and haven't had a single person even comment on it. I usually carry either a Kershaw Scallion, OD/black combo with a silver clip, or a CS Recon1. Two totally different knives, and yet I find the big Recon 1 blends in, and sits lower than the Kershaw. That being said, if I were to open the knife in public, the Kershaw probably wouldn't elicit the same response as if I pulled a big tactical knife.

I do try to be thoughtful about the situations I'll be in that day. I don't carry at work, or if I'm going somewhere that they might be sensitive about knives; sporting events, concerts, amusement parks etc. If I'm going to the mall, the Recon1 stays home, but I'll still bring the Kershaw. I don't try to hide my knives, and I know the effect that they might have on some people, but for the most part, I don't think many people who are afraid of knives even notice them. If someone does, they're probably far more interested in what kind it is than the negative connotations behind it.

Not posing a potential threat, or a perceived threat, your body language can all be factors I think. I have used a pocket clip for my knives for quite a while, and so far usually no one pays much attention. Police have noticed since we have quite a few of them around here, but I have never had anyone bug me. The only times I have had anyone comment on my knife is at work when I open boxes. Now that I have worked where I have for 10 plus years if there is something that needs opened or boxes cut down they come ask me so it is not a problem.

I'm for sure not a candidate for public relations; as long as I know it's legal to carry wherever I am, I do not care at all, never have, never will, if anyone notices I have a knife. I live in a country that brags about it's "freedoms" and rights to bare arms, blah blah blah, I'll be damned if I'll worry about the sheep spotting my pocket clip. ^_^

I saw that some people noticed the pocket clip of my knife but I never had any problems with that.

Most people aren't aware of their surroundings, as many have mentioned already. Unless you draw attention to your knife or can't keep your hands away from that pocket by checking to make sure it is there constantly, most won't be the wiser.

Someone will ask me about mine on occasion -- probably about twice a year. That tells me that many more notice but don't say anything. Usually it's, "Is that a knife?", but it's never been asked in a scared or negative way; folks just seem to be curious. And of course, once I tell them it is, they always want to see it and I'm more than happy to oblige. And yes, they seem to notice my deep carry knives just as often.

So it's been my experience that people notice but don't care. And that's fine by me.

The CFO of my orginization looked right at my clipped Blur, I think she knew exactly what it was. She made no comment though.

people might notice but if its legal you will never have any problems. i have been carrying a clipped knife for 10 years and never have had problems. people will notice as i also notice when other people have exposed clips. but as long as your laws allow it there is nothing to worry about
