If I dont own a Sebenza.....

Proud Sebeneza-less knife person checking in. I owned a Small Sebenza with micarta inlays for a while but have since sold it. There are much more interesting knives out there with comparable levels of fit and finish. For example, the Kingdom Armory Mini Samaritan.

So I'm going to turn the tables and tell all you Sebenza lovers, if you don't own a Mini Samaritan then you can never be taken seriously as a knife guy! Ha!

Great, I just blew my budget on a Sebenza 25 and now I've got to go buy a Mini Samaritan. Thanks a lot! :)

How anyone can call the Sebenza a d****e knife is beyond me. There are literally countless custom knives out there at triple (or more) the price with maybe 1/50th the functionality. There are production knives priced higher that perform marginally worse in at least one aspect. I get that it's not a knife for everyone but the argument that it is over glorified or snooty is just asinine.

You'll probably be taken very seriously by all the warriors carrying folding swords and the survivalists who need the spine of their knives to start fires in the 21st century. And after all, the internet is a serious place. Well played :)

I think it's because this "reviewer" is a toolbox when it comes to knives...he knows zero.

Then can I ever be taken seriously as a knife guy?

First - yes, you can be and why wouldn't you be?

Second - you shouldn't care. Eventually your tastes will sort of...settle in, and suddenly you'll find yourself very discerning with what you want and don't.

I do offer this video which is a great breakdown of the Sebenza - it definitely sings it's praises, but it also backs it up with some very interesting ideas and discussion, and covers some things that you may not know. It also talks about how those things you don't know, still effect how it feels and works. check it out.
