If I dont own a Sebenza.....

Cool! The close-up makes it seem larger than it is I guess.

I've often thought about a neck knife just to try it out, but even though I usually wear untucked printed tees or button down shirts, usually untucked, I haven't tried it yet. Guess I'd feel funny reaching up under my shirt (I assume that's how it is done) to get a knife out. You get used to it like anything, I suppose.

4.25" blade and 3.1 ounces so it's very light.

As a Sebenza lover, its still a knife at the end of the day.
You like Knives and are on a knife-forum.
Sounds like you're a knife guy to me. :)
PLUS, you know what a Sebenza is. That's more than a non-knife guy.

I've asked some non-knife guys what they would pay or sell my sebenza 25 for and got a 5-8 dollar and 15-20 dollar range lol. I have the 25 and don't really plan on buying another any time soon. Not that I don't enjoy or that I wouldn't take another one but for the price of what you get there are so many others out there than can be enjoyed or collected for that price. I enjoy carrying my BM 940, PM2 and other various knives over it but the guys on here and maybe a couple of my friends know what a CRK is so I don't think having one or not having one classifies you as being a knife guy.

Now on the other hand I'm know as a knife guy by my friends on the basis that I always have a knife, that I'm always buying, sharpening, looking at, and talking about knives. Back in high school a good friend used to call me rambo because I would always have a fixed blade with me either in the car or on me where ever we went.

Who cares...buy/use/collect what you like...and the ones that you do own please share useful and helpful information so that the rest of us can make our own informed decisions on future additions to our collections...

Do you need to be gifted a can opener, too? I don't see the point of using any knife to open a can unless it's a life or death situation with no other alternative tools to use as a can opener.
You can open a can with a rock. No need for a knife even then. ;)
I don't know. I think he makes a valid point. It's not the knife that should lend you any credibility (be taken seriously) but what you can do with it. If you can't even maintain the edge you certainly won't be able to do much with the knife for long. At that point what difference does it matter what you carry.

I agree. Who's more of a "knife person?" A collector or a user? Is a guy who knows and can afford the best the "knife person" even if they don't really know how to maintain or use a knife beyond office duty? Or is the guy with a razor sharp rough rider who works a job with his knife the "knife person?" Both? Neither? There's nothing wrong with collecting but IMO the person who sharpens and uses the knife for more than office duty has a more intimate knowledge of what's going on with the knife. In the end a knife is a thing and I value skills more than things.

I would give them equal billing shotgun! Some guy who gets a woody talking about carbides and powdered steels is every much a knife guy as someone who can appreciate a Loveless lockback or hunter in my book!

The Loveless is a great example of this. It's an archetypal hunting knife mimicked how many times at this point? Yet if you had one in unused condition, would you be hesitant to use it or view it as an example of the highest form of functional art by a master knifemaker? I have a Centofante Loveless lockback gent's folder on my bucket list....someday! Lol

Do you like knives? Do you belong to a forum where people talk about knife-ish things in a knifey sort of way? You're probably a knifeguy. Or knifegirl. Or knifehermaphrodite.

I didn't know you could catch waves in Idaho? Anyway nice umm a nice board.

As for sebbie's they either fit or they don't. Would I buy and use a hammer that every one else used and loved even if I didn't like it? Nope.

Hammer's??? I bought my Hart Woody, Stiletto Ruger Titanium, & a couple of Douglas', just because I wanted to be one of the "cool" carpenter's, swinging the newest steel. Same with my Military Grade Aluminum Ford F-150. ;) This ought to go over REALLY well... :D

Back on topic: This custom CRK Sebenza, was one of the nicest, smoothest, most awesome knives, that I've ever owned.

I don't own and have never seen a Rolex but yet I am always on time.
Never take yourself too seriously. There is more to life than knives.

I'm firmly of the "buy what you like and use what you buy" school of thought, which requires the approval of only one person. (Guess who that is... ;) )

That said, I've got nothing but love for my Sebbies (I'm up to 4 now, so yeah, I guess I drank the Kool-Aid), and I have no qualms about recommending them to friends. They're well-made, reliable, easy to carry and CRK stands behind them 100%, so it's kind of hard to see why I wouldn't.

Of course, I've also got nothing but love for my other knives -- I bought 'em, after all -- and will recommend them as well, depending on the budget/needs of the buddy asking for advice.

Regards,
Adam

PS - And while I'm definitely the "knife guy" in my limited circle of friends, on here I'm still very much a novice.

Buy a used one. Carry it, use it, enjoy it. Make the decision for yourself. I only have one CRK. The picture does not portray it but it is well carried. The damascus etching is scratched and rubbed off on certain spots. I personally love the aesthetics of a 21 so I got one. Do other knife people care that I have one? Probably not..

That's an awesome sebbie right there!

Buy and use the things YOU want! As far as I know we don't get a second chance!

Sweet looking Sebenza!

Thank you, Rex.

I ended up selling this Sebbie, back to it's original owner. Tuff Thumbz, is the guy who did the customizing on the scales. This was by far, the most gorgeous knife that I've owned, & the reason why I couldn't bring myself to use it.

Thanks for the word's of wisdom, Marcus!
