HEST
Ducktape
BHO's personal cell phone number
SAT phone to call and bitch out BHO for sending me there.

I spent 04-05 in Baghdad. The only knife I ever used was my kershaw blur. But, I did have a few other blades stashed away if something happen to the blur...If I did it all over again I'd probably go with a small fixed blade like the izula. I second the baby wipes and add AA battery's.

Vorpal sword - ya just never know when yur gonna have ta take heads!

From what I've read most people are opting for large/heavy fixed blades, where as the few who have been over there went with smaller/lighter fixed blades. The few people I know who have been to the sandbox usually mention fixed blades only being handy for prying and rarely saw use. Which makes me rethink me picking my Nighthawk but since its my only fixed blade, guess it'll have to do.

I went in '07 with a Kershaw Chive, and a CRKT M16-something or other (TI handles AUS-8 blade). Also a Gerber Multi tool. Both were bought from my B/x before I left. Got into knives more a year after I came back.

If I went again, I would take my UKPK, my Sage 2 (cuz its easy to clean). My Leatherman Charge, and my Inova something or other (small flashlight, uses a single AA, but is still bright as hell). I would think about picking up an Izula and bringing it instead of the Sage so I would have a fixed EDC type.

Military is pretty stupid about knives though. Here in Korea I have a 3 inch blade length limit, and even that makes alot of people nervous. It takes a while for people to get used to me carrying a knife. The one good thing is, I get calls from other shops when they need a blade, so I am kinda famous for it...:o

Make sure you are a good example of a knife carrying American.

I'm not a Ranger... my LT was. Yes, its a Dominator. and some Iraqi prolly got a lotta use from it.

CRKT's most in use are the M16 and 21's because they are right on the money for a Soldier and in every px.

I know alot of friends want multitools, cause they always want to borrow mine. :D

Was in Afghanistan 07-08 and brought way too many knives .
Sog Seal 2000 which I put crossdraw behind my sapi plate left hand side to avoid Rambo comments.
Spyderco Endura
Kershaw Blackout which I hooked up one of my fellow soldiers with as it was just about driving me crazy watching him buy crappy knockoff knives at the bazaars. He kept his word and purchased no more haji knives though.
Benchmade CQC-7
Leatherman Charge xti
Gerber issued Multi-tool
Benchmade 580
and somehow managed to pick up a few there:
Kukri from the Bazaar
Benchmade Auto from PX
Gerber Ez-out someone gave me

If and when I go back to the sandbox as I'm still in the Reserves I'll pack lighter. My RC-3, ZT0350, and the leatherman.
