In 07-08 I had and used:
- Leatherman Charge ALX
- Benchmade 525
- Busse Ripper
LM was given out to all the Mechanics in my Company and I ended up with one of the extras. BM was with me everywhere I went in my right front pocket. I only carried the Busse when I went OTW and do not ever recall even pulling it out of it's sheath during a mission. It was mostly used by me and others to build terrain models for convoy briefs and rehearsals.

The being counseled for carrying knives is foreign to me, but I was a Company Commander of a Motor Transport Company. It is probably a matter of perspective. None of my higher ups ever mentioned knives to me except our Colonel, who knew I was into knives and showed me a Kershaw boot knife his wife had given him to carry. My Marines knew I was kind of a knife guy. Any of them that regularly carried a knife were asked at least once, if not multiple times by me to see what they were carrying and how sharp they kept it.

I had other blades, but they mostly stayed in my can or office.
- Busse Game Warden, Busse Badger Attack, Dozier Buffalo River(?) from AG Russell and a Gerber MultiTool.

MarineAir – say hi to GUE for me (he’s a Maj that is an Instructor Pilot in Corpus). That place is small enough, you should know him.

well i dont have any high end blades, so here is my choice

leatherman wave-( do it all multitool)
benchmade griptilian- fairly lightweight, and i love the axis lock
for a fixed blade i would either go with an esee-4, or if i needed something a little lighter, a sog seal pup elite
