Tomorrow will be too late!!! You're gonna have some nice ink tho :D
Yes they are choice!! Just eat the ASAP after cutting and getting home.

I wanted to eat them tonight but I had two beers and I read to avoid eating them if youve had alcohol.

An O.S.U. Phd, THE MAN for fungus in Ohio almost died when he made a mistake. He thought it was a "meadow" mushroom. He was wrong and still got to live.

On the other paw, cattails are readily identified and have twice the calories.

I ate the Shaggy Manes this morning. Fried them in bacon grease. Very delicate and mild. Not as good as Morels or Oysters but close. A lot of water content.

Boy, I'm sure glad they made the night. I love shaggys and only found, sadly, about as many as you had there. The amazing thing was that they came from the driest, crunchy ground you could imagine.

I just went back to see if there were any more come up and the spot got mowed this morning. I picked a handful of little ones that I will saute later.

These Shaggys came from compacted ground that use to be an old road.

As far as eating , these are not the best deep fried like a morel or oyster which are chewier. These are better sauteed. I made some in butter and garlic powder and they were real good.
