If money wasn't an issue...what Traditional knife would you want to get?

Well, for most of us living on planet earth, money is always an issue, at least for me :) but as I've said in the past, it's only paper, we give a pile of paper, we get a nice sharp toy, not a bad transaction, it's just getting that pile of paper that takes time and perseverance.

Now, myself, my WISH knife would be one like this, a Jerry Halfrich rounder in stag with NO notch before the edge starts;

I haven't even broached how much it would cost, but one day I will take that first step and see if he has his books open to accept an order and then start plunking funds away for that far off date :)

SO, what would YOUR Traditional wish knife be? if money wasn't an issue...

Sweet, I have a feeling this thread is going to hurt a lot of wallets....:)

If money was no issue .. I wouldn't necessarily buy an expensive knife. I would be tempted to collect more than needed, that is for sure. For the most part though I have learned even if I grab one out of desire, another will replace it.

Just for fun though, I would make an offer to a few owners that have the 73 I have been hunting for that they would have a hard time passing on. That, and I would like to pick up a Randall or two :D

One of these days I might figure out exactly what I want in a knife, then go have some talented fella make it for me.

But I haven't figured it out yet.

Yep Brett, lots of other things we can and need to focus our funds on, this is purely hypothetical, to some extent lol and Frank, I bet you have a pretty good idea of what you'd want, get that pencil out and sketch something up, life is pretty short...it's amazing how fast the years go by!

edited to add, Sonnemann it's hard to go wrong with anything Tony makes! that sounds like a terrific knife

It's the little things that count, and the omission of a sharpening notch on this particular knife is one of them. A very, very, handsome knife, indeed.

As far as what I would acquire..... to tell the truth I don't know, because it could change by tomorrow, next week, next month, or next year. :D

Yep, that is one of knife life's little sand traps :) something always catches our eye. that particular one was hard to send back to the owner! Jerry does an excellent job grinding that blade down to a nice thin edge!

Haha, I thought the scenery looked familiar. I would of assumed it was yours if not for the thread title. Boy, that must be a gift and a curse..... being lent works of art, and having to ship them back to their rightful owners when complete. :o :(

It's actually scary !!! I rather they left as soon as possible, for several reasons, but mainly to get it out of my house and back to the owner, just sleep easier once it's on it's way home :)

And yes, I do get to see some amazing works of art !

Edited to say, that is a line from one of my favourite tv series Monk

"It's a gift...and a curse..."

Oddly enough, I can't rightly think of another knife that I'd want right now, even with a gift certificate of infinite size. Maybe something made by Tony Bose himself. I saw some nice ones that he had made at a knife show recently but they were over $2k.

I really have more than I need as it is, and nothing that I need to cut that can't be handled by a regular production Victorinox or Case knife.

Lol, Monk is the most awesomess, weirdest, coolest, guy I know. We have more things in common than I'd like to admit. Especially the OCD part (in reference to my knives). :)

I would probably convince GEC to come out with a 3.75 lanny's clip pattern with that sort of funding. :D :D I love custom knives but production one's are far more within grasp for everyone so it'd be nice to make a very popular and sought after pattern with one of the best companies available.

Perhaps a Tony Bose or a couple Bret Dowells.

A Lanny Clip with fluted bolsters in M4 steel with westnghouse ivory micarta and a Corgi or Dog head shield (what I'm on books for eventually in an couple years by Bret at least aha)

That's easy. I'd track down the current owner of this knife and make him an offer he can't refuse.

This bowie haunts me. I think it's one of the finest examplars of the type. While not as practical as a slipjoint, sometimes you are drawn to a thing and want it just because.

I would make Christian an offer he couldn't refuse for this knife :

I agree.

Just kidding Christian :) But I would commission a build of something very similar, this knife has intrigued me since I first laid eyes on Christians photos of it, to me it is distilled perfection.

...then, I would probably be tempted by some other knife :p
