If money wasn't an issue...what Traditional knife would you want to get?

Absolute perfection.

That is a beautiful Bose! What pattern is that?

As to the OP question: dream knives I have had manny ... in my day dreams. But in real life I prefer knives I can use and lose without to much of a worry. Still fun to dream though! :-)

....I like this kid in a candy shop" threads... :rolleyes:
I'm not sure what pattern I would pick...so in the meanwhile, I'd move close to Ken Erickson's workshop :) I'm sure we would sort out something nice ;)

Right off hand, I would say a Bose coffin jack. I have been obsessed with that knife since laying eyes on it. I also wouldn't mind one of them red soup bone clip TC barlows.
Maybe a mint old case red bone of some sorts. Or maybe comission a SFO of Erik's Choice barlows by GEC.:D
Yep, an EC barlow sounds pretty sweet!

Edit: I've got it! A custom barlow with clip and coping blades with long pulls on both, half stops, some rams horn or some other pitch black material like african blackwood, and brass bolster, liners and pins.

I'm within a few hours drive and I would be happy to keep the knives for you until you're ready to pick them up. ;) :D

I had one of the original bullet knives in much better condition than the one in the photo. It didn't even have a crack near the lanyard hole as most of them did. I loved the feel of that special knife in my pocket. I sold it and have regretted it ever since.

One of these days I might figure out exactly what I want in a knife, then go have some talented fella make it for me.

But I haven't figured it out yet.

I'm in the same boat - reason why I keep buying so many different knives to try out.

I know the blade shapes I like, I know the small features I like (and dislike), I kind of know the sizes I prefer, but as a whole package I'm still not sure.

A mint Schrade Walden stockman in peachsead bone. I would really like to get my old Samual Barlow back. I traded it for a nice custom.

If money wasn't a problem, for sure it would be a knife from Mathieu Herrero :
probably a Fisherman's

and a Sportman's

or a Nogent's Shuttle (navette nogentaise)

with the money left a St Martin?

or maybe this ivory Bulldog

If money was no object i would catch a flight to the USA and go to Titusville to visit GEC and hopefully find my perfect knife.

I would commission something by Ken Erickson, within his recommendations.*

Even from afar, his workmanship and eye for proportion stand out to me.

*If presented with a blank-ish slate, I would tie myself in knots trying to decide the Perfect Thing to ask for (Paradox of Choice, anyone?!), and stress too much over what I (didn't) opt for.

Shown a pattern or three from which to choose, with cover choices, I'd narrow it down right quick. :)

I would make Christian an offer he couldn't refuse for this knife :

Just kidding Christian :) But I would commission a build of something very similar, this knife has intrigued me since I first laid eyes on Christians photos of it, to me it is distilled perfection.

...then, I would probably be tempted by some other knife :p

Lol...that knife is long gone. :( Someone already made me an offer I couldn't refuse. Should've held on to it as it looks like Joonas is no longer making puukkos. It's been several months since anyone has heard from him and no one has seen any new knives come out of his shop.

If money were no object I could afford more then one I guess.

I'd get me some Bob Loveless;

A William Moran or two;

And a few from Mr. Tony Bose;

Then I'd think about what to get next.:)

T.A. Davison:
2 blade bullet end jack with matchbook long pull spear and cap lifter.
Or, a sowbelly with a clip (polished swedge and satin flats), flat long pull along the spine, and a cap lifter secondary.
