If only one Benchmade...and why?

My Adamas should be here in the morning.

But the Contego or the Bedlam are calling my name.

Call me bias but the entire Osborne series.

For now i will go for Contego. I hope to get an Adamas soon.

I'm looking at the 950 Rift with gray/black handles and satin blade. I've toyed with the Contego due to the M4, cerakote, and it looking like a 950 on steroids --- at least on YouTube. (I will catch a knife show this fall.)

I have the 710 in D2, and the LE version with M390. Two of my most used knives, and definitely my favs from BM.

I'd kill for an AFCK. Always on the lookout for a decent deal but i'm usually too late.

Hey they just had the 806 afck axis, black blade in m390 at kw for $169-can't get any cheaper.I bought one but I really don't care for the blue stripes,so I dyed it all black, but you can still barely make out any blue at all-looks awesome

I used to own 10 BM's and sold them ovr the years to finance new interests - except I'll never part with my 710 D2 (390 is fine but an expensive upgrade no?) and my "l'il bit" BM 940 Osborne S30V.

Two knives that every BM collector must have.

I have to admit liking a few of the newer ones I've seen like the Benchmade 806 AFCK (absolutely sexy knife but spider hole? rather have thumbstud).

I like the Adamas and the Subrosa - first one looking like a brute and 2nd one elegant - love the framelocks.

Enjoy 'em guys lots of goodies in the past few years eh? :)

Out of the dozens of BMs that have passed through my hands the mini grip is the only one that's stayed. From gold class all the way through the line, I've tried bunches of them. My issue is that there seems to be no improvement in build quality... There all pretty good but not fantastic. Its pretty tough to carry much else when you start understanding the philosophy of some of the midtech makers out there!

I agree for the most part - you have to cross that line into Sebenzas, Hinderers and other makers to get to the next level (mid-tech to full custom).

I own a few Spydercos and some of their offerings are quite nice but still production. Zero Tolerance and high end Kershaws like the Tilt, Volt and 0777 provide some pretty smooth folders but not to my taste.

Sorry for the off topic - I'll stick with my 710! :D

"I'm looking at the 950 Rift with gray/black handles and satin blade. "

My bro in law just got that same model recently, it's an awesome piece. Thin, reasonably light and has that nice blade shape.

i used to answer: 710 !!! but now, i'm more carrying the contego ....
here are my most carried which meens my favorites:

What is the third from the top?

Benchmade or Ritter fullsize grips all the way. I have a Satin blade Ritter with Wilkins grips, a Benchmade Gold Class with M4 steel and CF grips and have three sets of Cuscadi grips coming for two more Ritter grips(satin) and a black combo blade griptillian. I love the Axis lock and the grips are just the perfect knife for my hand. I have Striders, Hinderers, Spydercos and a custom Farid Mehr and find them all to be wonderful knives.....however, for the price the grips are as good as they are and I find their deployment to be smoother than a frame lock. I've absolutely decided that while I love the more custom knives, my collection is progressing full-speed down the road of grips with custom scales!!

Trage you a large Ritter w/wilkins Grip for that Hinderer? :D

It doesn't look like it, but the 810 is very ergonomic. It also has tons of grip. Plus 62-64 hardness m4, glass breaker, deep carry clip. If you like a knife this size, it's a great choice. Of the knives you're looking at, the contego is by far the best steel unless you're looking at LE versions of those.

I can only speak for myself and am close to pulling the trigger on the Contego. My desire to get it is the steel (M4!!! --- coated so as to be water resistant), 4 inch reverse tanto blade, it's newness, being tactical as well as having some utility with that M4 blade (no I would never be in a knife fight!) and being able to get a good price --- especially on a knife with M4 steel.

But I'm still not sure what is best as no nearby dealer has a good stock of Benchmades.

The Rift is on my list, too --- maybe the nicer knife. Even the 940 (in green probably) looks good and is really popular and lightweight (S30V steel!)

What really got my interest started was the Bedlam (154 steel). The looks! The G-10 on it! 10 inches! But the blade is seemingly purely self-defense. My friends would be impressed (which is good) but I heard the blade is a bit weak (0.125?) and could wobble a bit. The Contego complaint seems to be the handle --- the G-10 might be a littl rough cut. The Rift is probably better in this regard. And well priced.

I'm not that familiar with the 530 but it looks good. Slim blade probably means sharper. :-)

It seems the blade getting alot of press is the adamas (275). The D2 must really be well done. Great deal, too. Extra strong axis lock (800lb!)as has the Contego (I believe). But could be a bit big for me to pocket.

A part of me still wants the Bedlam if only to collect. The 940 is really popular and has received acclaim form several. The 950 seems like the best all-arounder (the gray/black combo seems quite handsome, too). The Contego could be a bit of a risk. The adamas seems to be super well liked. The 530 could be the sleeper. It's too confusing and I want them all!

Good luck and enjoy the hunt!

kestrel I love my adamas and the D2 is very well done, its tough and I find it very easy to bring back to a laser sharp edge on my strop

I picked mine up at GPKNIVES for $125
