If Skyline and Leek cost the same which would you choose?

kershawguy has the leek for the lowest price i think. i prefer the assisted opening leek. the skyline is a great knife, but the leek is a superior design.

I'd go with the Skyline. G-10 handles are much grippier than stainless and the Skyline's blade shape is more useful to me than a straight wharnie.

Own both a couple times over and will carry the skyline more for everday carry, but the higher priced Leek with S30V and G10 beats and is prized over all my lower cost Leeks, skylines and is the one I like to show off.

s30v or composite leek hands down... im not a fan of assisted opening but i hated the skylines i had more. it really depends on you... the skyline sure is a featherweight and its blade shape is much better at handling a variety of task but for general edc opening boxes mail etc the skyline wins hands down in my book. decisions decision, just get both! :D

I've got both and edc both. personnaly I'd take the skyline only cuz it's so much lighter (considering how light the leek is, that is something to notice. a few times I actually forgot I was carrying the skyline and really had to check to see if i dropped it or not.). To be honest though, I used the leek more and it performed flawlessly when I did (it performed beautifully when I had to make a new hole in a leather belt just before I went horseback riding in the desert!).

if you like the AO, get the leek.

if you want to save on weight, get the skyline.

I've never owned either until today. I still don't have a Skyline, but I picked up a Leek just this afternoon... meh. I think it would have been much better as a manual deploying blade with a detent, and I despise the pocket clip as much as the Blur's. Might not be a keeper, but maybe it'll grow on me some... we'll see. :/

Based on my initial impression of the Leek, I'd say get a Skyline instead.

The Leek in G10 with the S30V stonewashed blade is just a great EDC -- once you reverse the clip to tip up carry that is ;-) Not a huge fan of Kershaw's assisted opening on their thumb stud designs, but love the spine actuation on the Leek.

And I lost mine, so if you find one lying around, please send it my way :-)

I have and use both a lot: they're my go-to knives for opening packages, mail, and other light tasks of that nature. I don't actually EDC either of them -- they sit near my kitchen table ready for package/mail duty -- but if I did I'd probably go with the Skyline due to the better grip of the G-10 scales. But as others have mentioned, I'd take the composite blade or S30V Leek over either of them (obviously those, unlike the regular 14C28N Leek, cost more than the Skyline).

I think you should go for the skyline...just my opinion.
the leek is ok for edc, it's more like a gent knife, small, needle point, assisted, frame lock, slick handle ( except for the s30v g10 model, which I don't think costs the same price as the Skyline)
the skyline has biger blade, more belly, stronger tip, g10 handle, what's not to like? and in the hand, would feel the ergo of the skyline, so much better than leek.
well if you want something cool, unique, and easy to break, buy the leek :P
good luck!

Leek, until the Skyline is available with metal our just non g10 handles (if it is, it must be well hidden). The Skyline handles are terribly coarse, and in my 3 days of having it, it rubbed my hands raw.

Just a heads up, Don't EVER EVER buy a ZT0200 :D

I have never owned a leek. I enjoy my Skyline for EDC. Lightweight and secure in hand. I rather carry the skyline due to price and hate to ruin any of my more expensive knives.

I've never had a leek so my opinion is biased.. although I think you'd be happy with either, the leek appears to be a fine knife...

however I've owned a skyline for 1 1/2 yrs, have sharpened it a million times, used it from every hardcore task to package opening.. this thing has really been a blessing and has yet to break...

I bought another here on the forums just in case my work horse broke, take a look at how the blade 'shrank' over periods of sharpening compared to the skyline behind it:D

Leek. I don't own a Skyline, but I love my Leek. So, per the terms as stated, if I was offered both at the same price, I'd buy the Leek.

I have no idea which is better.
