If the aliens took all your knives but gave 10 new knives what would you take?

DOH! I think things went awry from the start because of the alien context.

How about this: If you ended up with no knives but leprechauns would give you ten new knives, what knives would you start with?

As a kid I was always told a story about my grandfather riding his bike home from the movie theatre one night only to be surrounded by a bright light and wake up in his bed the next morning with his shoes still on.
He definitely wasn't the type who needed his head checked, but I'd say if they're making knife related deals with you then you probably are the type who needs their head checked.

Don't know how you could understand them, why they wouldn't just go steal a flea market and get all the futuristic alien looking knives they want, and why they'd even want to come here considering all the zombie talk that goes on every day.
 
I don’t think I would even want ten knives. Three or four would work just fine.

The problem with getting replacements is that most of my favorite stuff has been discontinued.
 
Zoinks! And I thought it was such a cool idea for a string but ruined it with mythical and alien character references to spice things up.

It was probably an OK at best idea anyway but:

If you had no knives but could start a collection of ANY ten you wanted what would they be? Same rules for hobbits.

Based on previous wise-*** comments I have a feeling this may not go as I had planned.

As long as I could get my Spyderco Militaries, S90V & CPM M-4, and Manix2 Maxamet, My fixed blade Doziers and Bark Rivers, I'd be happy.
 
Seriously, though, I think my ten replacement knives would be a mixture of classic ratchet navajas, puukot, leukut, Billnas style Finnish axes, and a couple of stockmans (the latter with mammoth ivory scales and carbon blades). Oh, and a really nice straight razor.

Agree with sabre cat sabre cat . Don't need 10 knives. I would need a Fixed Blade (for those camping/hunting trips), a good EDC folder (for household work) and a Traditional (for admiring).

My choices are :

  1. Fixed Blade : T.M Hunt Custom M-18. A wilderness "workhorse" capable of many tasks - woodworking, chopping, bushcraft, skinning. 16 inch knife with a 10 inch blade. Thick O1 steel. Made in the U.S.A.
  2. EDC Folder : Spyderco Shaman. I prefer the Sprint Run with Carbon Fiber and CPM-S90V Super Steel. 8.3 inch knife with 3.6 inch blade. High Sabre grind - good for any household cutting tasks.
  3. Traditional : Tony Bose Custom Lanny's Clip (not one of those Case-Bose annual collabs). Beautiful dark stag handle, 154 CM blade with half stop. Timeless classic. Made in the U.S.A. This will be my "safe queen".
 
Failed on this thread but got some funny responses.

I do think it would be very interesting to see what the results would have been had people listed their most desired knives.

But I met two aliens and a hobbit so it was well worth it.

I think 10 is a bit much to ponder. Maybe if it was split "which 5 to replace first/ what 5 new ones on the aliens dime".

I was going to post 10 of my favorites from my downloaded pictures, but it's time consuming to transfer to my photo resizer app.
