If united cutlery is POS what about Hibben?

Just don't confuse Frost with Frost of Sweden, a completely different company. Frost of Sweden makes good low-buck knives.

In response to the Q of Frost(Taiwan).
Frost(not Frost-sweden) are purveyers of junk. You can't miss 'em. Just look for garish and gaudy "rainbow" pattern pakkawood handles, funky and totally useless "fantasy" shapes, etches of outrageous names which could hurt your case in court in the event that you had to use the thing for self-defense, and worst of all, bright chrome-plated guards which are most likely powdered zinc castings which could prove deadly to the wielder if ever struck by an attackers knife blade. Rumour has it that Frost doesn't bother to heat treat most of their junk blades. Just check out the "tennesee knife mafia's" catalog(Smoky mountain knife works) They are a bunch of conniving rip-off artists who steal designs from knifemakers.

Geez, Redleg.....didn't you learn anything about protocol and etiquette from this thread ?

Using rumour and insulting language doesn't win any arguments.....fact and reason just might.

Hey! knifeforums has a sniper forum.. to bad eventhough I am a wannabe I don't know much about sniping =(

Oh yeah since the topic seems to have changed to FROST. Which Frost cutlery guys are famous for the butterfly knives? I though tit was Frost USA (then again i think they commisioned many of their butterfly knives overseas.. maybe taiwan?)

Since I have gotten myself in trouble about commenting about commisioning knives I try to be as PC as possible.

Hi, I'm just a a guy from Holland but about 5 years ago I bought 2 Colt Bowie Limited edition knives through, if I'm correct Cabela's, they where serial numbered 1/7500 through 7500/7500.
When they arrived the Colt blue box with 24 carat gold Colt emblem was nice, the Black leather sheat with 24 carat gold Colt imprint also. The knife was just not what I expected, gold plated hilt that showed space between the tang and hilt and blade and hilt that shouldn't have been there. Also of the 2 supposedly identical bowie blades one was much thinner grinded and the scales told me almost 1.5 ounces of weight difference.
Then I discovered the "Limited edition" certificate saying that it was licensed by Colt to United Cutlery.
Perhaps quality has gone up I don't know but I've never ever bought something from UC anymore.
I've been trying to trade/sell this Colt limited edition Bowie since more then 4 years and nobody wants it.
Cheers, Bagheera

Brian E. Sorry, Life is too short to be PC. I usually use a tad more self control, however, Frost's lack of quality and their trend of "design emulation" really chaps my hide.

Where United Cutlery is concerned, they are a multi-line distributor. Some of the knives they sell are POS from China and Pakistan

. When you look a little further, you can find some decent low-dollar knives that by the appearance are made by Camillus as Mike Turber stated. Some of the United "Harley-Davidson", "Rigid" and "Remington" knives would fit this category. The "Colt" products are also pretty decent. With United you can pick and choose and find some good knives. Their fantasy and collector pieces are just that, dandy wall hangers and nothing else.

Frost Cutlery is a total POS outfit. Most of what they have to offer are design knockoffs from China. Their own brands are made in Pakistan(Should be spelled PakOStan, where knives are concerned

). Other than providing "quick and dirty" sales at flea markets, Frost Cutlery has no redeeming value.

I used to have a friend who was a flea market vendor. He sold some selected United stuff but would not touch Frost.

I suppose, Redleg, its all a matter of perspective......some people think life is too short to waste time on being rude and insulting while others think life is too short to waste on being polite and diplomatic. Ain't life peculiar

And "rude" and "insulting" are not ,IMO, the other side of "politically correct"

But, then, I suppose this is what makes us individuals

Brian,
You have a point. Due to the fact that I work daily in a very political climate, I find it refreshing to visit this forum where I can express my true feelings about outfits and products which I feel strongly about either way. I apologize to you if I insulted or violated your sensibilities.
Merry Christmas! and keep your powder dry.

Redleg...
don't apologize. My sensitivities are quite robust. My sense of humor is rather ticklish, though
