If you buy a new knife, Would the blade be 3" or 3 1/2"?

I'm in the apparent minority who prefer to keep it right around 3" or under. Generally speaking, I'll only go for larger blades on folders if I'm wild about the design.

I prefer 3.75 to 4.5 inches in my folders. Only rarely will I carry a knife less than 3.5", and if it's 3 " or less it will be a second knife for specialized use.

I suppose I'm fortunate where I live.

I'd rather have a longer blade. I've got bigger than average hands and if I really need my knife for something I need a handle big enough to let the blade do it's job.

I carry a Schrade 108 everyday but I really don't do much than open mail or clean fingernails with it. I also carry a SAK Pioneer Harvester for the hawkbill blade and a Spyderco Police III.

I guess if I expect to use my knife, I want a larger blade. If I don't expect to use it, smaller is ok but I haven't bought anything for myself in 20 years with a blade shorter than 3.5" without a specific purpose in mind.

I’m in a state that has no length limit. But many local towns do. I’ve carried a Jr. Stockman since I was a kid. Since I was a teenager I also carried a larger knife. I like a 3 ½” length with a comfortable handle for slicing bread, cutting a steak, or fuzz sticks. But when I’m in a town I know has a knife length limit, or if I don’t know if there is a limit, I only pull out my Jr. Stockman. That never bothers anybody.

So here’s my suggestion. Make a knife with a 3 ½” blade or blades. Then make a companion knife with a 2” blade or blades. Same style, same materials. (Stag for me, lots of color and figure.) Sell them as a set. The larger for cutting food, splitting kindling, or skinning. The smaller for uptight towns, clearing car battery terminals, or splinter picking.

I do not know if you really are AG or not but, I ordered last weekend from the company a Field Knife #2 and was told at the time the order was placed, that they were in stock and would ship on Monday the 7th. Monday morning I received a call from the company telling me that there were no knives in stock and sorry but they would not be coming in until 6-30, and would ship out some time after this and that we would get our order some time in the middle of July. We have ordered other knives from the company before. Is there now a problem with supply from the orient? Do you now take orders and then have them put together overseas to help inventory?
Our order was to have been a Father's Day present and would like to have known that their was no stock at the time of order or your advertisement stated that the item was not available until a certain date. I understand that when a company grows and relies on off shore manufacturing that communication gets hard to stay on top off. But when it becomes an issue with the customer then a perception arises that is very hard to manage.

When I began to read your post I could just barely control my rage, which of my staff was so stupid as to tell you that that knife was in stock, as I continued to read I realized that you must have talked to our answering service. I regret the misunderstanding and will do anything I can to make things better. The Field Knife2 will not be here for another week and a half. We can rush a card telling how soon it will be there or we can substiltute something else. Please get in touch with me at: agr@agr3.com
