If you carry the same knife daily, what is it?

Not *every* day, but every day that a non-stainless tool steel is appropriate, I carry this. CPM 15V with the right heat treatment is excellent stuff for the steel nerd. And I do like the Paramilitary 2 as a knife anyway, so this one has been very good for me.

This topic comes up once a week or twice a month.

For years, hile my carer path involved daily wear of a hard hat, my EDC was a Buck 110.

Later i life, after a career change doing diagnostic imaging at a major teaching hospital, my EC became a Leatherman Wave.

Now that I am retired, my EDC is still the WAVE. I'd get something else like it if there was some new little twitch to it that I liked.

Maybe blades made from Magnicut. How about spring assisted opening blades? Maybe a little larger overall but at the same time lighter. Maybe spring loaded pliers or side cutting wire cutters. I would really like a securely closing belt sheath that carries horizontally.

I have carried the Strongarm as a neck knife every day for about a month, not just for farm chores but also out and about. I love the convenience of a neck knife--it's so much easier to draw than a pocket knife, especially when I am driving and my wife wants to use it to open an ebay package. I put my fingers around the handle and my thumb automatically goes in place to pop the sheath off. I carry other knives, too, but have hardly used any of them lately. That needs to change, though. I've been thinking about what additional knives, in a pocket and a belt sheath, would complement the Strongarm.

That would be over my size limit for neck carry .

Might be I'm just too little ? ;)

I like to carry the same everyday. For me that was a benchmade serrated mini griptillian for a few years, bounced around for a minute with different brands before landing on the 940. 5 years later, I decided I wanted something larger so I treated myself to a ZT 452 and that’s been in my back pocket everyday since January

I'm with you, I carried a DPX triple black for several years, then when it was confiscated by TSA, I was cast adrift lol. Now I'm torn between Les George and SHF for EDC, thanks to Mitch.

I think muscle memory is important for rapid deployment and safety. So, I carry a knife till I loose it or sell it. Currently it's a Spyderco Lil' Native CruWear. Before that was a Spyderco Dragonfly 2 VG-10 for a few years. I think I prefer the shape of the Dragonfly and it's weight, but surprisingly I've come to enjoy the native's locking mechanism. So if the Dragonfly had a compression lock, better steel and was made in USA I'd be in heaven!

Since 1969 its been a SAK of some sort. There has been other knives along for the ride over the years, like the Buck 301 stockman I used the ever lovin dog poo out of for 25 years, but a SAK was someplace 'around'. Then I carried a Case peanut for about 10 years, while I had a SAK in the pack, other pocket, or glove box of my car. I've carried a Sardinian Resolza on and off, but a small keychain SAK was there. Since about 1995ish, a SAK classic has been on my keyring, but for the last several years, theres been times when I didn't bother to carry anything else.

Most of my life, I lived in or around Washington D.C., and in an urban environment, not much knife is really needed. Plus as I got older, my obsessive knife nut love sort of faded, for lack of a better word. I still like knives, and I enjoy looking, but as I got older there was way more important things in my life that took priority over cult worship of an inanimate object. I still think a nice sharp knife in the pocket is a standard item every man should have on him. If not for my pocket knife, I would not have been able to get that driver out of that overturned old Datsun B210 that was starting to burn. She was hanging upside down in her seat belt that wouldn't release. The blade used was my old Buck 301 sheep foot blade. I figured that with a hysterical thrashing driver dropping down, I didn't need a pointy blade to cut the seatbelt. The sheep foot was about 1 3/4 inches and semi sharp. Did just fine on the nylon webbing.

I guess I can say that for a couple decades now, the humble little SAK classic has been my real everyday knife. It gets augmented time to time with a number 5 Opinel, or a Christy knife, but the classic is aways there and is used a hell of a lot.
