  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

If you carry the same knife daily, what is it?

For several years (roughly 2005 to 2017) the only knife I carried was a CRK Small PJ Sebenza. I carried it everywhere from backpacking to the office. I still think it’s an ideal one knife solution.

However, I’ve since evolved to a typical scenario small fixed blade and a few favorite special circumstance knives:

Typical - Fiddleback Forge EDK. It’s a joy to use this thing.

Casual, but in a place where a fixed blade might get me looks that would make my wife uncomfortable - Small Sebenza. I have three in rotation (one PJ DP, one PJ Insingo, and one Micarta DP).

Beach or place where I’m at risk for confiscation - SAK Compact. It’s cheap enough that a loss won’t upset me.

Office (rare), or rare dress up occasion - CRK Mnandi. Mostly, because I need an excuse to carry this little gem.

Backcountry - Fiddleback Forge Sneaky Pete (hiking) or Bushfinger (backpacking) plus a small Sebenza.

One of these depending on my mood 😆

I try, every once in a while, to rotate my carry, as I start feeling bad for having 50 or 60 folders but regularly only carrying 5 or 6 of them..

Usually at most I'll carry the same knife for around a week before I make myself swap it for something else. (Not including carrying a certain knife for a specific task)

My normal, grab-n-go in rotation knives are the..

• TRM Neutron 2 - 20cv
• Hogue Ritter Mini RSK - 20cv
• BM Mini Freek - S90V
• Quiet Carry Waypoint - Vanax
• Spyderco Stretch 2 - k390
• Spyderco Para 3 - Maxamet

For the past 8 years (well 8 years this Christmas), I have always had a Case Texas Jack in my pocket. Otherwise, I carry the same blades depending on what I am doing;

Off Work: Emerson Gentleman Jim, Leatherman Wave +, Peak, Firearm
Shop Work: Emerson Horsemen, Leatherman Wave +, Microstream (+tool box)
Field Work: Buck 110, Leatherman Wave +, Surefire, Firearm

Always with the Texas Jack though...

These two every single day without fail, Swiss Army Executive and Pioneer X, each has their own slip sheath, the Executive is the one I've owned the longest, I can't even remember how far back I made that slip sheath but it's getting quite thin from carry but still hugs the knife.

Love the scales on those!! What’s that model called
Oh me too, bought doubles of what I could cause I know these are my favorite. Also seems like they do not show wear nearly as much as most of the knife is white. The ones with the bear looking characters are from an old Finnish children's book and cartoon series called Moomin that is a bit of a national treasure (and quite a vibe, I think anyone can enjoy the books because of how they are written, it's like The Hobbit, that was also a 'children's book") but yes, absolutely adore the Moomin x Victorinoc collection

The ones that you might see me post that look similar but with a sketch of realistic animals are from Finnish artist Teemu Jaarvi x Vic and both are sold at various Finnish design (hint) or Nordic knife shop/sites. :)

Spyderco K2 carried 300+ days a year for maybe 5 or 6 years now.
It’s slim and carries small in the pocket with the best clip I’ve ever owned on a knife, more than capable of use and abuse I’ve thrown at it so far.

About a year ago your posts about your K2 inspired me to get one — in slightly used condition. I figured if a hard working farmer used it in all kinds of situations it must be tough. I’ve never been happier with any spyderco I’ve owned; I know it will be up to the job. Thanks for your posts! I know when there’s ever a discussion about the K2 you’ll be adding to the praises of this tough knife!!

Classic SD every single day. A second knife rotates, but is usually a DF 2 of some scale choice.

Right now, it’s the Fastball in the daily carry spot on my dresser. I’ll pocket that for a while, for the few times I actually go out, until I feel like switching it up. It got carried today for our traditional Thanksgiving brunch, featuring my own traditional turkey chili. 😁

I once only carried 1 knife because I then only owned one knife.

It was an all black Kersahaw Shallot 1840CKT.

Now I rotate a variety of knives into/out of my pocket every 2-3 months or so but I no longer carry a Shallot because I now own too many other knives to choose from and my taste these days run toward Ti handles/frames.
