If you could have any Custom Maker build you a Traditional...

3.5 inch closed TL-29 with BG-42 blades, cocobolo covers, bow tie shield and brass liners. Made by J.Oeser. :D

I visited him when he was making the last electricians knife. He had an old ebony version as a pattern.

J. Oeser will get more business from me for sure. I think he needs to make me a Barlow....... Or electrician..............or maybe a cattle barron pattern. 4 blades, a clip, punch, sheeps foot and spear......... With ebony covers? or maybe stag (I don't think I have seen a folder from him with stag yet).

I have something kind of like that.

My original intent was to do a grandad barlow. He drew up the design, and I nearly ordered, but then, my wife made fun of me. She pointed out that I had 4 Barlows already (all production).

So I had him draw up a large Gunstock with a Spear main and Warncliff secondary. Both with long pulls.

It's aging well!

Honestly, there are so many fantastic makers, and so many designs, it is just mind numbing to try and narrow it down.

This one pops to mind (I don't even remember the maker right now, or who owns it).

A RYU like this would be nice ( These next two are owned by ptradeco I believe, from the recent Cattle knife thread).

Or a Tony Bose

The maker would be Jared Oeser, it would be a spear point gunstock, long pull, half stop, white linen micarta bolsters with orange G10 covers...someday. :)

Enrique Pena makes fantastic knives, at least as far as photogenic knives go. I just love his knives in every picture. (these are not mine......

A Jared Oeser barlow would make my day. The same color scheme and blade selection as Bigfattyt's gunstock...just shaped like a barlow.

Maker I am not sure. Pattern, a modern remake of the most rare classic, smooth bone Schrade Walden 3OT. There is only one. And then said maker would send it to Herman Williams for embelishment. A collaboration.

3 5/8" Cattle knife with clip, sheepsfoot, and pen
three spring.
sheepsfoot in the center position at opposite end from clip and nail nick on the other side from that of the clip
blade steel either D2, 154CM, or CPM 154
covers, open to discussion.

Frank, that is a very cool piece! I have seen only a couple of three spring three blade equal end knives. I will try to dig you out a picture or two. Definitely a unique piece. Kind of like a Whittler on roids!

I did have a custom maker make me one. T. A. Davison. 3 3/4" closed. Orange so I can see it when dropped in grass, weeds, woods etc. Shield I just liked.

And here it is at work in the shop. Just looked down and saw what looked like a good picture lol

This is actually pretty easy for me. I'd have Ken Erickson make me a 4" cattle knife with spear master, spey, and punch blades. Covers of jigged brown bone or really superior stag. I'm open to suggestions on the shield, though.

Joel Chamblin is currently making my dream EDC which is his tribute to Jess Horn SF folding boot knife with Sheffield antique linear paper micarta; same handle material as seen on bigfattyt's Oeser gun stock. After seeing him post the yellowing of the micarta I cannot wait! :D

Would love to get my hands on anything Oeser as well someday. A Tozaki Norfolk with Tozaki jigged bone would be great, too! Always wanted a Karamura Sleeveboard Whittler with lockback or premium lockback stockman in sambar stag. Someday I'll graduate to something from Wilfred Works.

Having recently procured some Westinghouse ivory paper micarta I'm seriously considering a maker to make an homage to the Schrade 835Y... I'll likely ask Mr. Chamblin as I've worked with him a few times before my most recent commission. I've been on a micarta kick lately...

Kevin,
thanks for the "candy shop thread" :D
Honestly, I'm absolutely in love with my one and only custom slipjoint, which was designed and built to fully satisfy my wishes, but then again, if I won the lottery, I wouldn't get another identical one...so let's play ;)
As for the frame, a 3,5" serpentine with mildly squared bolsters, just like those old Schrade Walden knives posted every now and then on this forum. Someone here (possibly Trand) has an Erickson serpentine jack with a very similar frame that looks awesome to me.
As for blades, I would get a two bladed jack with a main clip (a regular clip) with a long pull, and a smaller secondary sheepsfoot with long pull on the opposite side, and extension spring.
Handle material...to be determined. I love ebony/blackwood, but since I won the lottery, I might decide to go for something else, like ivory, abalone, or some old yellowish Westinghouse micarta. Or blue denim micarta (I blame Trand for that) :p
As for steel...CPM-154 would be great, but lately a friend of mine ;) told me great things about CPM-M4, so I might give it a try...
As for the maker, I would easily contact Ken or Jared :)

Tough question. I've got knives made by some of those makers listed and I think any maker that posts here would make a great knife.
That said, I think I'd get a lock back whittler from Tony Bose. Like this one;
tbose-378ivorywharncliffeLBW-3.jpg

I love this pattern and the fact that Tony, last I knew, doesn't take any orders, makes this one an unattainable prize for me. I'll have to settle for the upcoming (2014) Case Bose collaboration knife.
Picture credit goes to Kerry Hampton, I think.

I'm with you Gary, only difference is I would want the 'old' arrangement with the Clip primary.

I'm going to cheat because there are two makers I dream of getting knives from -- Tony Bose and Ken Erickson. Tony because no one does it better. That and the fact that no one has had a greater impact on the custom slipjoint world. As for Ken, his work is just awesome. I love how he is so willing to try and recreate the old patterns. Most makers have standard designs that they like to make. Not Ken. It seems that the only limit he has is your imagination. Pick out a design, send him an old knife if he's never made one before, and give him some space to work his magic. I guarantee you'll be awestruck by the result.

Here are the two knives I'd commission.

This knife from Reese is Tony's iconic back pocket design. I like everything about it, except size. Make mine 3 3/4" closed, a front pocket knife if you will. For me that's the sweet spot for both usability and ease of carry. I'm still hoping GEC offers their own version of this knife. They don't even need to create a new frame, it looks pretty much like a #73 to me. Just redesign the blade a bit, from a drop point to one like Reese's gorgeous clip point.

These are the specs I'd request -
3 3/4" closed
52100 clip point blade
blued bolsters
girdle? shield
exhibition grade stag covers

This second knife is quite a departure from the first. Whereas the FP is what I consider the ideal EDC, this one is more for special ocassions.

This but with Damascus and popcorn stag.

Kinda new here but if I could have my dream blade made assuming all of this is possible I think I would have something made as an heirloom blade... And maybe home defense if I'm unfortunate enough to have the need arise. Two handed wakizashi with a Dragon skin damascus blade with a 51200 core/ edge differentially hardened with the seven virtues of bushido carved near the tsuba on one side and something for my future generations, silver habaki with the falling rain pattern, silver seppa and fuchi, Japanese imperial dragon tsuba with gemmed eyes, black ray skin tsuka with white silk ito and a black ray skin wrapped saya with white silk sageo. Once again not sure if it's all possible but it sure would be a pretty blade.

Christian, you can stop right here. I have handled this knife and lets just say, Done Deal!

Looks like you suffer from expensive tastes as I do. My condolences. ;)

Maker - Tony Bose.
Pattern - Harness Jack.
Shield - Acorn.
Scales - Antique jigged red bone.
Blade steel - 154CPM or possibly BG-42 because I don't own any knives in that steel.
Size - 3 5/8", basically take the Case Medium Jack and replace the pen blade with a punch. I love the size and shape of that knife.
