If You Could Have One Knife...

If you were to choose the one knife that you'd only get for say five years, what would it be? Under 200 dollars, no weight limit or steel preference. I wish i could get a Strider for 200 dollars but im SOL...

For a folder my Caly 3.5, in fact if this was the only folder I could own for the rest of my life I would be happy.
For a fixed blade Swamp Rat Ratmandu, simply the best 5 inch blade ever made imo.

Just one, I'd go with my Victorinox Tinker. I like having the other tools as they are very handy. Realistically, I'd much rather carry my Vic classic and Svord Mini peasant together:

200? Just one? Man, I would have 5 in that price range if I knew they had to last me 5 years, just for variety and in case I need to send one in for maintenance.

Well, hmm. My first instinct is to say Spyderco Gayle Bradley, but I haven't been carrying that so much as of late. Probably my EX-02.

Since I don't have a Hogue yet, that's probably first on my list. I'd like an Mcusta Katana, but strictly for collecting purposes and not actual use.

That Hogue may be hard to come across. One small batch was made for Blade 2013. I have yet to see hide nor hair of any others, which makes me very glad I grabbed it when it popped up here...

EDIT: Specifically THAT version of the EX-02 with the blue handles and satin blade. You can still quite readily get a spearpoint flipper 3.75" EX-02, just with a black blade and different patterns on the handle.

Since I just ordered a BM 586 on Friday and it meats the criteria, I'd say a BM 586

One knife for <$200 to do everything, I don't own one now but I can say without a doubt it would be a spyderco Gayle Bradley. Slices great, looks great and is strong enough I could really abuse it if I had to.

Fixed Blade- Swamp Rat Howling Rat
Folder- Spyderco PPT...no, my BM 710..or my Military?

G'ah!! I hate these questions! ;)

Survive! GSO 4.1, but there are dozens of combinations of inexpensive knives that would be a smarter decision. I'd probably start off with a Becker BK16 and add a Mora (or two), a Leatherman Wave, and a SAK Tinker.
