Okay, so if you could buy one knife... ANY knife that you wanted, regardless of price, but you had to use that knife and ONLY that knife to fill that roll from now one, what would you buy

For example, Mine would be the Busse Killa Zilla, so I would have to use that knife and not use my machetes, large choppers, etc...

If you pick an EDC folder, Camp knife, etc... the same applies

Large Regular Sebenza for me..

I would pick the Umnumzaan.. but for hunting THE DROP POINT on the regular would suit me better..

Well , I'm not really a folder guy , so it would be a fixed blade for me . I have some Busse knives but I've always wanted a combat grade Busse ASH 1 in the .320 thick blade stock . That's one tought a$$ knife

HOLD MY BEER AND WATCH THIS !

Custom VECP w/ a hollow ground 3v blade or a .310 D2 Shawty, full Ti frame, left hand chisel grind.

Oh Wow This Is A Tough One.
I Don't Do Fixed Blades, As I've Just Never Needed One.
But I Guess It Depends What Role You're Wanting To Fill.
Are You Wanting To Fill The Cutting Role, Or The Do-It-All Knife Role?

So I'm Going To List What ONE Knife I Would Do For The Folder Role And The SAK Role.

Folder - Probably A Hinderer XM-18 3.5" Or XM-24 Flipper In s35vn, Slicer Grind Fully Stonewashed, Flamed With Blue Stand Offs, Blue Or Blue/Black G-10, And All The Extra Little Goodies.
SAK - Victorinox Wilderness In Orange Or Purple Or A Victorinox Farmer In Blue.

Irregardless of price? I would commission Murray Carter, Chris Reeve, Ethan Becker, Shosui Takeda, Micheal Bay and Santa Clause to collaborate on a knife that could transform from a Carter neck knife (original, Osage Orange handle, hammer finish) into a Small Sebbie, BK-9 or 27cm Gyuto respectively.

But since Santa isn't real, I'd settle for the Carter.

Noooooooo! Another "one knife" thread. J.K. :-)

I could ALWAYS have multiple knives for different tasks, and I do. And I nearly always CARRY multiple knives as well (usually at the very least, a small Leatherman Juice MT, and a folder, but nowadays I'm carrying a fixed in addition to or instead of the folder, and just using the MT or a "beater" knife that I keep handy for routine tasks like box opening).

With all that said, if I were in a bug-out situation, and needed to keep the gear light, I'd probably want the Swamp Rat Ratmandu on my belt. It's big enough to be useful at woods tasks (splitting wood, etc.), big enough for defensive use, and small enough to still be controllable for fine cutting tasks. Probably the best all-around blade I have. If I didn't have the RMD, my next choice would be my Ritter Mk 3 blade. For this kind of 4" to 5" utility blade, I'm also potentially interested in the new DPX Heft 4, and the new Kinfe Research Rasul knives, both ultimately made by Lion Steel in Italy, both look like great knives and are lighter weight, which is something I value.

Honestly, I use my Al Mar Ultra Chef 9" the most of all my knives. At least once a day I have it out in the kitchen.

Why are my Fav's so heavy, "Two Hearts That Beat As One" would be my ASH-1 and my N.M.F.S.H. or my A.S.H.B.M. LE and my INFI Ratmandu, which is actually a lighter pair, and still lighter my Sarge 7 and my S.O.B. geez this is tougher than I thought, I guess my A.S.H.B.M. LE would be the knife, if I could only have one knife, I know it's a little heavier of a knife, but the Indigenous Saame People used their Leuku for EVERYTHING a 1knife carry, the choil on my A.S.H.B.M. LE really helps out to use a knife that size knife smaller, so yeah, if it's good for the Saame's I guess my A.S.H.B.M. LE is good enough for me, I like the rule of thumb, "The best survival knife is the knife you have on you", I wouldn't mind I defenetly wouldn't mind ending up with my A.S.H.B.M. LE as a survival knife, so I practice carrying my larger knife on person and the smaller knife on my pack in a multi knife carry, just incase I'm in a survival situation and I could say I'm glad I have it.

Esee Izula. It is small enough to pocket carry and tough enough for the most demanding task. (I might consider the Cold Steel Pendleton Mini Hunter, instead.)

Probably a custom dogleg or swayback slipjoint. Fluted bolsters, a nice shield, stabilized burl covers. Two blades, one something thin and acute with a super fine-grained steel and high polish, the other with thicker stock and a more wear resistant steel with a slightly more obtuse and toothy edge.

Sergey Shirogorov full custom Icebreaker. I'd find a way to make it work.

I have tried your logic and it failed to control my knife buying.

I have one work knife, one off duty knife, one hunting knife, one fishing knife, one camping knife, one hiking knife, one survival knife and the list continues longer than I care to type it out.

Oh and it does count as a separate purpose to have a backup knife for each of these tasks.

My CQC-7 has done all of my daily tasks and done it well, so it would be an Emerson custom CQC-7, Mil-spec configuration, set up for tip down carry.

I could be totally satisfied with a Small Micarta Sebenza Insingo... Perfect EDC size for me and love the utilitarian blade shape of the Insingo.
