With pure utility in mind, I would be faced with two scenarios having to chose between two CPKs which have 6"ish blades (my fixed blades goldilocks zone):

A- if in a more urban/rural setting, then the Utility Fighter (UF). Melts in your hand, great balance, weight, ergos, deadly sharp which can perform a multitude of "lighter" tasks in addition to being a defensive weapon.

B- if in a "survival" or general backcountry extended camping, trekking, a bit of hunting / gathering and that sorta purposes, the one which can do all tasks even though if not meant to be perfect for every task: HDFK.

If Tommy is going to throw a hissy fit followed by some intense wailing and screaming, demanding the answer be one and only ONEe, then I'd have to select the HDFK just to prevent Tom-Tom from blowing a gasket :D

I need to get home and fondle the gang before I make my decision. Right now I'm still in that new knife state of mind.

I carry/ use the EDC2 every day. But I live in a (large) city and have a multitude of knives in a similar size.

For that reason, I will have to go with the HDFK as my all-round, hardest-to-replace, SHTF/survival/camp chore blade and the one I wouldn’t want to miss in my collection.

ETA: That made it sound as if the EDC2 were easily replaced. It’s not. Love that knife - there’s a reason I grab it so often. I have taken the edge angle down a touch and spent some time on the strop. Amazing and useful cutter.

I think the DEK1 might be the jack-of-all-trades kind of knife that will be at the top of polls like this in the future

Unfortunately, (or fortunately depending on your pov) my development for the POC DEK1 has had to take a back seat to the bike shop as I'm slammed with repairs and stuff. I wanted to get the handle slabs as close to their finished size as possible before I send the knife away for heat treatment so I could work on shaping them while the blade's gone, but at this point it probably makes sense to get that steel hardened and ready

sorry for the tangent

It just so happens that the only one I voted for, is my only one.
I tried real hard not to use it.
But after using it, I can say I Should have used it sooner because what a thrill !
The beatings it takes go on and on. Shiv, if only one! For now anyway. When I get my hands on my next CPK,this may change.
These Pics show (why I voted SHIV !)
Hats off to you Nathan !

Honestly that's a tough decision. While the fk and HDFK are phenomenal, I feel like I have suitable replacements if I needed them.

No replacement for the EDC and edc2. I haven't found a small knife with handles that will fit my mitts.

I vote EDC.

Integral dagger in D3V.

Of the ones that exist, I’m torn between my wood-handled UF or my LC.

Also very much looking forward to the BC and eventually the DEK1, which I’d expect to end up being my most used.

I picked the Field Knife. Having spent lots of time in the field in various situations and conditions I've found that blades between 4 and 5 " are the most versatile.

What I didn't pick was the ability to buy one without engaging in a virtual fistfight and/or getting rolled by an unconscionable opportunist selling them for twice their manufacturer price on the secondary market because that option wasn't available.......

I'm ok with the lolly scramble because it's at least a fair fight;) the secondary market prices from some sellers have definitely gotten kinda crazy though:(.

When the new field knife is released there should be a pre-order which you can join. If you miss the pre-order luckily there will be a chance in friday sales to still acquire one. It's a good system.
I was too late for the edc2 and hdfk pre orders but have picked up both in the friday sales, and for that I am truly grateful

Thanks guys. Out of curiosity, what / where are specs and discussion on new FK? I've honestly been curious and jonesin' for one of the Carothers FK's in Delta 3v.

I'm not particular about whether it's new or current model , I simply want one to use. 3v is probably one of my favorite metals for my type of use. Which is usually hard with a requirement of an edge retention and taking a razor edge. Delta seems to be a cut above that

Nathan has not revealed much about the new FK aka FK 2.0 other than already stating that it will be a tweaked version of the old FK sans the pry bar piece at the pummel.

I don't even know as to whether there's a prototype of the FK 2.0 because if there was one, Nathan would be showing us a teaser image of something. Who knows, maybe he'll come back and show us some CAD images on his computer?

Yikes, that is one aspect I like and comes in handy- for me. In fact , I prefer it otherwise I don't really like the butt of the handle configuration on the Carothers, but that is my two

Don't hold back and let us know as to how you really feel, LOL :D

Best bet would be to scour in order to find an original FK on the secondary  but as you know and loathe, you'd probably pay through the nose, although there have been exceptions.
